"Hi dad, Danny said as he walked into the lab. "What's that you're working on," he asked, seeing that his dad was messing with something.
"Hey Danny," Jack said with a beaming grin, pulling his son over to see the invention he had been working on. "This is a new version of the Fenton Finder, one that locks onto the most powerful source of ecto-energy in a mile radius! This will help me finally catch that no good ghost kid!"
"That sounds great Dad," Danny said, hoping to distract him. But...
"Here, I'll show you!" Jack said, grabbing the device and switching it on, oblivious to Dannys nervous expression.
Strongest ghostly energy source located, the device said in the familiar tone of the Fenton Finder, Location: Fenton Laboratory.
"Theres a GHOST here, where?" Jack asked, quickly pulling out an ecto blaster from who-knows-where and waving it around wildly. "Get out, your old man can handle this!"
"Uh, Dad," Danny said, deadpanning, "I think it just detected the portal," pointing at it as he said so.
"Doh!" Jack said with an embaressed facepalm. "I, uh, knew that I was just testing you."
"Sure Dad" Danny said rolling his eyes as he left. "Sure."
