Sparkling Topaz
Me: WEWT! A Kataang fic. Can you believe it? Yep...I'm bettering myself as an author by trying my hand at other fics. Zuko, give the disclaimer.
Zuko: Para owns nothing...not even me. Which reminds me. Why am I here?
Me: Forget you. Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and don't be too harsh on me. This is my first try at a drabble that isn't Zutara. Constructive crticism is always enjoyed and well encouraged, however.
"Katara...I..." Aang began, tripping over his own words.
"What is it Aang? Is Sokka trying to make you wash his dirty socks?" Katara asked, furrowing her brow, while squeezing water out of her hair. It was such a warm day, Katara could resist the urge to strip down to her undergarments and splash around in the cool water. They had just made it past the Serpent's Pass and fortunately, no one had been seriously wounded.
"No...I mean, Sokka is badgering Suki and Toph, but that's not what this is about..." Aang bit his lower lip. His face turned blood red and buried his face in his hands.
"Aang...are you alright? You're worrying me!" Katara approached him and touched him on the shoulder gently.
"Everything's fine...I...just..." He stuttered. Katara cocked her head to the side.
"Aang, it's alright. You're my best friend. You can tell me anything." Katara gave him a reassuring smile.
"Katara...I don't know how to...well...I just..." Aang continued to stutter and couldn't get the words out.
"I thought I was trying to be strong... but really I was just running away from my feelings. Seeing this family together so full of happiness and love, it's reminded me of how I feel about Appa... and how I feel about you." He finally managed to get out. Katara pulled her hand back. How he felt about her?
"How you feel about...me?" She repeated, unsure of what she had just heard.
"Katara...I...I...I...don't know how else to..." Aang began.
"To say it?" She finished. Aang solemnly nodded his head.
"I understand." Katara had small tear drops in her eyes and looked at the extremely embarrassed Aang. His eyes were on the ground and she slowly approached him and hugged him softly. A tear trickled down her cheek and her sparkling topaz eyes were more beautiful than ever. "I understand." She repeated.
Me: So...how did y'all like it?
Zuko: Ask the readers!
Me: Please, please, please review. I need it to be critiqued so I can get better at writing. But don't be too harsh. Other than that, thanks!
