I first met luck's mother before she was born not knowing she was pregnant or that the man that got her pregnant had left her the same night she told him. I knew that when I proposed to her mother that I would raise a child that wasn't mine, that I did not create, but I didn't know that she would be different. 3 months after our wedding she gave birth to a darling little baby girl... I loved her like my own.
I figured that we would name her something normal that all little girls have, but when her mother told the nurse her name I felt something crawl down my spine...I suddenly felt scared of the baby frightened, I didn't know why it was a very nice name but something about it made me shiver. This is the result of something that was beyond my control I felt separated from her then on even though we had a very tight relationship as father and daughter, but no matter how much I tried I couldn't stop that feeling in my gut that something terrible would happen later on.
Her mother named her Luck Lady Swalroy, which I guess was to honor the child's real father, which had been shot in a casino just to months earlier to her birth. You see her father was no ordinary man, he was a criminal but not by choice... he would go casino by casino play almost every single table and roulette wheel the place had, some say he rigged it some how, others say he was the luckiest man on earth but nobody could prove him guilty of cheating...never. Finally one day he got into trouble with a mob and was shot in one of his favorite casino's and died almost instantly. The weird thing was...it was one of the casinos that I owned.
