Prologue: The Mode of Operation

In the storage room of a lonely inn in Kyoto, a robust, wrinkled woman leaned over a wooden table, chin resting on her folded hands. Across from her sat an older gentlemen hunched over so the woman could speak into his ear.

"Are you positive?"

"Yes, completely, she's so loyal she'd never leave us, and she loves him enough to the perfect proprietress. The faster they get together the less likely Shotaro is to run off to Tokyo."

"You're right, dear. But how will we get him to agree? You know he has no interest in marrying her, let alone staying here and having to marry her!"

"Well that should be obvious; we'll make him think he's getting the better deal. If we tell Shotaro that if he marries her that he has our permission to do whatever it is he wants so long as she agrees, he'll be eating out of the palm our hand. He'll think that she would go wherever he pleases Even though he's going through his "rebellious teenager" years, deep down he still loves us and wants us to approve."

"Wouldn't he be right?" Mr. Fuwa stretched his back, sore from leaning over to hear his wife's whispers.

"No of course not because we'll tell her that there is just one very last important thing that we need to ask of her, keep Shotaro at the inn. You know how eager to please she is, she'll bend over backwards to make sure he stays home."

"Isn't that cruel to do to her?"

"No, it's in their best interests, Shotaro needs to learn to be responsible and Kyoko will be happy, finally, instead of being ignored by our bull-headed son!"

"You're right, dear."

The Fuwa's discussion carried on late into the night. As they plotted and planned, Kyoko and Shotaro slept nestled in their beds, not even twitching as their lives were planned out for them.

A/N: I was just wondering if readers would like to see all about the way the Fuwas con them into getting married or if I can just skip straight to their married life. If I don't get much of a feel for what you want I'm just going to head to two years from now. Thanks for reading! I did not edit this I just typed as soon as it came to me.
