Rachel meets Ross's new girlfriend at the coffee house
Rachel dashes in the coffee house, everyone is there already. Joey, Chandler and Monica are sitting on the couch looking over at Ross standing over the chair. His new date, Lucy, is sitting down. After seeing Rachel comes in, she stands up and finally sticks her hand out to shake Rachel's hand. "You must be Rachel! I've heard great things about you, I'm Lucy!"
"Oh, you heard a lot about me?" Rachel looks over at Ross who immediately looks down at Lucy with a smile. As he looks back up at Rachel, she's still looking at him with a straight face. He stops smiling and rubs the back of his neck.
"Yes, it's great to meet the whole gang together!" Lucy does not notice Ross and Rachel locked into a stair. She's looking at the rest of the group.
Rachel looks at her and first notices her long blond hair. Her focus was lost when Ross leaned in to kiss her, brushing her golden locks back. She immediately looks away and clears her throat. "Well it's really nice meeting you…" Rachel leans in searching for a name.
"Lucy."
"Right. Lucy!" Rachel giggles awkwardly as she looks down and scratches her head. "I actually have this thing to go to, with this really nice guy." Everyone looks at her in silence. "His name is Jack. He's great; really, really great!" She stops and stares at Ross. He looks at her, confused.
Feeling awkward with all the silence, Phoebe steps in and says "Rachel, don't you mean, John? I just met him last night; I thought his name was John."
"No, Phoebe, it was Jack!"
"Are you sure? I thought his name was John too. I remember looking at him and thinking 'yeah, that's definitely a John," confirmed Joey.
Rachel freezes, not sure how to recover from her mistake. "Well, yeah! Of course! His name is John. His middle name is Jack. I call him Jack, it's uh… it's my special name for him."
"Right," says Phoebe, "I usually pick the middle name for a pet name too."
"Anyway, guys," interjects Ross, "Lucy and I have to go now. We are going to see the new dinosaur exhibit at the museum!" Lucy nods with excitement, looking at Ross lovingly.
"Wow! Sounds like so much fun! I wish I could go too! Ross has always been into really cool things." Rachel says. Ross stares at her as Lucy looks at the ground in embarrassment.
"That's, great. See you guys later!" Ross and Lucy say bye together and head out.
After they leave, Rachel sits in the chair looking at Monica, smirking. "Well let's see how long that lasts!" She looks over at the rest of the group. They begin talking to each other, appearing busy. Monica frowns and looks down, afraid to address Rachel's comment. She looks at the boys, seeing they are avoiding her. She looks worried and sees Monica leaning in. "What's the matter?"
"Rachel, I know this is hard for you, seeing Ross moving on."
"Monica, I'm fine! I'm so over Ross."
"At least stop pretending that you care about this guy you're dating. It's OK to be upset about this. We are here for you, but you can't deny what is going on. Ross likes Lucy. Lucy likes Ross."
Rachel sighs. "You're right, Monica. You're right."
Joey tunes into the conversation, "Rachel, if you need more help moving on, I am free tonight and happen to be good at—"
"Joey, don't make this awkward."
Joey frowns firmly, "you got it!"
