Chapter One
Focus: Longtail
Longtail picked at the mouse in front of sound of approaching pawsteps gave away that the dawn patrol was back.
Some thing's different,but what?
Longtail looked up as the patrol padded into unfamiliar scent wafted of of the lithe ginger and white tabby she-cat walking in the center of the patrol.
A loner! She's ... sick.
He watched as Cloudtail and Brambleclaw escorted the she-cat to Firestar's den. Dustpelt split from the patrol and headed to the fresh-kill pile. Longtail got to his paws and padded over to Dustpelt.
"What's going on?Who was that cat?", He mewed curiously.
"She's said her name is suggested that we care for her until she's fit", Dustpelt replied.
"Oh." Longtail nodded and padded over to the center of the clearing where his unfinished mouse lay.
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey,gather here for a clan meeting!", Firestar's voice boomed. Sun slipped out of the den and came to stand behind and Cloudtail padded down from the highrock and came to join the other cats who were gathering. Longtail studied Sun with interest.
She was abnormally thin,he noted and her fur was dull and unclean. Sun's sparkling green eyes met his. He stared for a moment without realizing. As soon as he came to his senses he quickly looked away. He felt her eyes boring into his pelt.
I am such a mouse brain!
Longtail was relieved when Firestar continued.
"Thunderclan, I introduce you to Sun she-'
Firestar was interrupted as a cough racked through Sun's body.
"-she is ill,and she will be staying with us until she is healed."
There was silence until one voice piped
"Sun! Sun!" The rest of the clan joined in on the cheer.
"Sun! Sun!"
Longtail found himself cheering as well,Then he awkwardly realized that he was cheering the realized that some of the senior warriors were staring at him with expressions of amusement on their faces. He registered with annoyance that Sun was staring at him as well with a mixture of curiousity and interest on her face.
Now you've done it mousebrain!
"Meeting dismissed!" Firestar turned and padded back into his den.
Sun neatly jumped down from the highrock and padded towards him. Longtail looked away until he felt her stop beside him.
"What's your name?" she asked brightly.
"I'm Longtail"
"Longtail? Thats a nice name! W-' Sunny paused as another series of coughing racked her body.
"L-let me take you to the medicine den", Longtail mewed. He guided Sun to Cinderpelt's den.
"Thanks! ...I guess I'll see you later,Longtail", she mewed sweetly before disappearing into Cinderpelt's den.
"O-okay, I guess..." Longtail mewed before realizing that Sun wasn't in front of him anymore.
You, Mousebrain!
Longtail awkwardly padded to his nest and tried to sleep last thing he saw before falling asleep was Sun's kind face.
