A/N: Just a little reflection on 002, his cyborg abilities and Black Ghost...
Disclaimer: 002, the power of flight, Cyborg 009 itself, one-shots or anything else even remotely connected to this story don't belong to me.
All the other cyborgs really hate Black Ghost for what he's done to all of us. I mean, you'd be angry too if some stranger with a lot of money and power kidnapped YOU and turned you into a weapon too against your wishes.
But somehow, I don't mind as much as everyone else.
Ever since I was a little kid, all I ever wanted to do was fly. Not in an airplane or some other machine, but to fly on my own, like a bird, like in the story of Icharus and Daedalus. I mean, my real name's even Jet. Sort of like destiny, in a way. Thing is, Black Ghost fufilled that destiny for me.
When I'm up there, everything else just seems to fade away. Everyone assumes that the reason I'm always so eager to go fight Black Ghost is because I'm angry at him, which is true. But another part of me just wants to fly, to be free from earthly things.
I imagine it must be the same type of thing for 008 and 005, too. It really is relaxing just to be able to really connect with one of the elements, despite the circumstances.
Black Ghost may have been looking for supersoldiers when he designed me, but he gave me an incredible gift without even realizing it. I may have paid a pretty terrible price for it, but there are times when I know I'd choose this path all over again, just to be able to fly.
Other times, it feels like I'm going too close to the sun, my own demise brought about solely due to Black Ghost's 'gift'.
He's always told us, right from the very beginning that we should be thanking him for the abilities he bestowed upon his, even though we never asked for them.
And in a way, he's right.
I know it can't be easy for some of us to accept our abilities, but for others, it's a blessing in disguise.
After all, Black Ghost's meddling ended up giving us all something we wanted, whether it was an whimsical dream or something simple just out of reach.
He also gave us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a way to escape from reality and the dreariness of day-to-day life. Without Black Ghost, I never would have met any of the other cyborgs or experienced things most people only see on late night, low budget sci-fi flicks that are both good and bad.
I suppose, even if I end up like Icharus in the end, just to have known flight and the wonders of being a cyborg will make it all worthwhile.
