*I wrote this two years ago as a 16 year old, so if there are some grammatical errors try to look beyond them*
Chapter 1: Life can change in a heartbeat
Brett Wheeler is an ordinary man who lives an ordinary life. He is a high school history teacher at Richmond Hill High School and extremely dedicated to his job. His students love him because of his exciting approach. It is after school hours and he is talking to his best friend Lance Williams, who works as the school's janitor.
"Tough day Lance?" Brett asks.
"Yea Brett, you know I'm really thinking about quitting this job." Lance replies.
Brett stares at him in disbelief, and finally replies saying "Well at least it's Friday, Let's go over to my place and have a few drinks."
"Alright, maybe that will cheer me up." Lance says as he puts his janitorial gear away.
Brett drives Lance to his house because Lance doesn't own a car. While in the car, Brett notices that Lance seems depressed, but he doesn't say anything. Once they get to the house they go inside and pop open a few beers. Lance doesn't say anything.
Brett asks " I know something is wrong why don't you just tell me?"
Lance responds "My life is a mess Brett. I really need to find a new job. This one isn't paying for the bills."
Brett simply says "Don't worry Lance you'll find your dream job someday."
Before Lance can say something back, Brett's neighbor Miranda barges through the door and looks very upset.
"Did you guys look at the news today?!" she says.
Brett looks at her nervous face and seems surprised. "No" he replies as he turns on the T.V.
"Go to channel 14, that's the one i've been watching all afternoon" Miranda orders.
Brett flips to channel 14 and catches a glimpse of a man who looked awfully pale. The man claims that a suspicious looking woman came toward him and bit him on the arm. The camera zooms in on the wound.
"This is what i'm talking about guys!" Miranda shouts.
Brett and Lance continue to watch T.V and the channel then shows a group of suspicious-looking people all walking together. They were lurking around trying to attack people. The reporter claims that this could be a type of disease that gets transferred over when someone bites another person.
Brett jumps out of his seat. "I got to go over to Nick's house and talk to him about this."
