It was unusual for Vash to ask me to go on a picnic with him, and at first I thought he was joking. But when I saw the blush creep on his face, I knew he just wanted to spend a little more time with me, and I gladly accepted.

We choose a lovely day for a picnic. The sun was shining, there were almost no clouds in the sky. Everything was perfect. We walked to the park, and I wore my fancy new pink dress especially for this occasion. Vash wore a clean dress shirt and dress pants.

"You look handsome today," I said to him.

He looked over at me, and nodded once to thank me.

I understood why he didn't complement me back. He was usually neutral about things. I knew that he thought I looked beautiful though, I could see it in his eyes.

After we had set up and started eating, I tried to break the silence between us. "What do you think of the tea?"

"It's... interesting." He said. I smiled, then we went back to being silent.

"And what about the food?"

"It's interesting too." Once again, silence.

I tried once again to make conversation.

"I'm sorry if I'm talking too much." Hopefully that would make him say more.

Vash stopped eating at once, and looked over at me. I stared at my food, pretending to be upset. He moved his cup and plate out of the way, setting his food down at the same time. He moved, sitting beside me, and moved my hair out of the way, then kissed my forehead. I jumped at his action, extremely surprised.

"Of course you're not talking too much." He said. Then, for the first time in a very long time, he smiled. "You're not talking enough. I'd like to hear your voice more." He moved back to his place and continued eating. I giggled, and then started to talk about anything. He said a few things too, and I was happy they weren't just short phrases.

It was unusual for Vash to ask me to go on a picnic with him, but I was glad he did.
