Jane of the Volturi sat in her room, on her narrow bed. She didn't know why she even had a bed in the first place, it's not like she slept. But Master Aro has insisted on it, and Jane followed all of her master's orders. So here she sat, alone in her dark room, listening to the soft russel of the shifting animals on the opposite side of the stone walls.

"Jane?" It was Alec. Of course it was, she thought to herself.

"Yes, Alec?"

"May I come in?"

"Enter," So Alec pushed lightly on the door, opening it. He looked to his sister, and her position on her bed. He briefly took the time to wonder what she was so deep in thought about, but decided that it was best he didn't.

"Heidi will be here soon, dear sister," Jane wondered if he had really bothered walking across the entire castle to tell her what she already knew. And now, Alec just sat there, looking awkward, on the edge of her bed. Obviously, he had come for something else, and was simply afraid to ask her. Still Jane felt oddly compelled to tell her brother what was bothering her, but instead just sat there, looking at the red vintage pattern of her bedspread.

They sat there for several minutes, staring. Alec had suddenly found the hem on his cloak sleeve very interesting, then stood up to leave. He had originally come to ask her what she had been so apprehensive about in the past days, but had decided against it.
"I love him," It was only a slight whisper, but he had heard.

Alec froze at the door. Furrowing his brows as he tried to comtemplate all the options, instead of the one that stuck out in his head.

"Pardon?" The young vampire slowly said as he turned towards his sister, who looked away from him, towards the far wall. He noticed that she had seemingly lost her nerve.

"I-I..." Jane trailed off, biting her lip. She took a deep breath and started again. "I...love him,"

Alec simply closed his eyes. He knew who she had meant, he always had, from the very beginning he had known of her sister's love for their master, and had ignored it, as it had seemed strange at a time. He was surprised to finally hear a confession, and wondered what had coerced her into it.

His lips went from a hard, confused line, to a small smirk as he turned back towards to door. "I know," And had simply walked away, toward where Heidi would be bringing their 'visitors'. He hoped his sister wouldn't be upset, but as he looked back towards the room, he noticed she was also smirking to herself. She had simply needed to talk with someone who could maybe understand, and although Alec could never understand this bizarre development, she knew that he had at least tried.

After several minutes, Jane stood up also, following her brother towards where they would eat. She was rather thirsty, after fasting in her room for days, and smiled at the thought of seeing Master Aro once more.
