A/N Just me, messing with the characters- I dont own them.
Darkness surrounded everything in sight, all except for a few glistening lights of color. Fading softly was a voice, sweet like honey and drawing with desire. An image was just slowly coming into focus, just in reach, but not quite close enough to grab. It looked like the color green, with white waves crashing together over it. The straining urge to step upon it was almost unbearable. It all looked so real, so amazing..
"OI! SNIVELLUS!"
Severus' eyes snapped open, only to reveal the empty room at Hogwarts he was stuck in over the last few weeks of their fourth year. And worst of all, he was stuck with James Potter. His worst rival, and possibly the most annoying person on the planet. Dumbledore had forced them to stay in the spare rooms together in hopes they would learn to get along after a huge fiasco ending them both in the infirmary for two weeks. The room had two bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom in the middle. So far, the first few days had been torture, with James sulking about not being with his friends and Severus complaining about stupid Griffindors. But then the seeker had become bolder and was doing his best to be as irritating as possible. And it wasn't getting any better.
Severus growled, angry at being interrupted from his meditation. James still banged on the door, but Severus stuck his fingers in his ears and tried to ignore it. Soon, however, the noise was too unbearable. With a scowl, the dark-clothed boy opened the door.
"What in the name of Merlin do you require, Potter, that demands such a drastic need of my undivided attention?" Severus snarled.
James, with his hair hanging helplessly in his face, grinned, "Speak English, Snivellus? I don't speak greasy git."
Severus gritted his teeth, anger boiling into his face. "Then let me make it simple, so that thick head of yours can comprehend it. (I What do you want?"
"I forgot to take notes in Binn's class, so I'm gonna need to copy yours." James ruffled his hair.
"Let me think. No."
"Aw, come on, don't make me hex you. I could very easily enlargen that fat nose of yours, Snivelly."
"Don't you dare, Potter!" Severus cried, though he very well knew both he and James were only allowed to have wands during classes. Still, James was insufferable.
"Greasy git."
"Filthy half-blood."
Severus was getting more and more annoyed by the tall James standing lousily in his doorway, demanding to copy his notes. He was less intimidating without a wand and the other mauraders, but still as conceited as ever.
Now James was the one who was boiling. "Shut your mouth, Slytherin scum!"
Severus and James reeled at each other, fists ready to punch, but right before they made contact, a magic field collided between them and bounced them back to opposite sides of the room. Of course. Dumbledore wanted to make sure there was no physical violence either.
Both boys lifted their heads painfully and scowled at each other, crossing their arms like five year olds.
After five minutes, James smirked. "Hey, Snivellus, guess what?"
"No."
"When we are let free from this, lets have a race on broomstick! Whoever wins gets to ask out Lily. 'Course she'd probably rather have me anyway.."
Severus growled at James. "Get. Out."
The smaller boy slammed the door in the seeker's face, then stepped back and sighed with pure relief. Finally. Severus got on top of his bed once more and began his meditation when suddenly..
"SNIVELLUS! WHAT WAS THAT SPELL WE LEARNED YESTURDAY AGAIN?"
Severus banged his head against the bedpost.
