She sobs
Her small shoulders shaking
Her green eyes filled with tears.
He chokes
His heart breaking
At the sight of her cries.
She whimpers
Her chest aching
Her pain like a vise
Sufficating her
With its deadly grip.
He reaches for her
Pulling her into his arms.
Burying his face in
Her dark curls.
She shrieks
Her voice like
Glass shattering.
And what hurts him the most
Is that he can't save her
From her nightmares.
