Inspired by the song Summer Sadness by Lana Del Rey. John/Teyla. Could be taken as completely AU or could be taken as further down the line the SGA Universe.

Disclaimer: I don't own SGA or the characters, etc.

He watched as she danced. Her feet were bare and the red satin of her dress caught the light just right and lit her up in the moonlight. Her head tilted back as she laughed at something her dance partner said and he felt his shoulders tense.

Dark eyes caught his across the floor and he felt himself relax again. The warm summer breeze steadied his nerves and he took a sip from his glass of whisky. Standing, he made his way through the crowd until his hand came into contact with her smooth skin.

"Mind if I cut in?" He asked, not really waiting for the answer.

The marine that she had been dancing with shrugged and moved away. "When I asked, you told me that you do not dance," Teyla said.

John's arm circled around her waist and she leaned her head against his shoulder. "I don't."

"And yet here you are," she said wryly.

They turned as they heard a cheer and watched as Ronon dipped his bride. The smile on Amelia's face was bright enough to rival the twinkling lights that were strung around the patio.

"We're still that happy, right?" John asked.

Teyla squeezed his hand. "Yes, John. We are still that happy."
