----

She doesn't believe in marriage.

She doesn't believe in love.

She doesn't believe in much of anything.

She believes in him.

But only as far as she can see, as far as her science will take her.

Hodgins says it is faith. He is wrong.

All relationships end, just as all suns set at the end of an evening or a lifetime.

But all suns rise as well, and the end is in the beginning again.

She feels too much.

She loves too fiercely.

She suppresses both of these things because it is easier, because it is stronger, because she has so very much invested in being strong and objective and rational.

She is hard on herself and she knows it.

It is only human to feel.

She doesn't want to be human, she's never thought of herself that way. Instead, she is a scientist.

Death and dying comfort her because that sort of leaving is involuntary.

Leaving is inevitable.

Everything is solid until it isn't.

Matter is neither created nor destroyed. It merely changes forms, shifts until it is unrecognizable, slips through fingers like blood or sand or sadness.

She doesn't believe in forever.

She doesn't believe in lifetimes.

But she doesn't believe that moments are enough.

She enjoys the complexity of paradox.

Love is transient.

Pain is not.

She believes in pain because she has experienced enough of it to be able to offer a quantitative analysis of its properties.

Sunsets are constant.

She wants to believe.

She probably never will.

He will try to make her.

She believes in him.

But only as far as her science will allow her.
