A nice spring breeze blew through the air and lifted the smell of sea salt into the nostrils of the crew members on board the pirate ship that floated down the open ocean.

Blonde hair waved into blue eyes as one member sat propped against the inside wall of the ship. He moved his bangs out of his eyes and peered up to look upon his commander with curious eyes. Black hair flowed against a pale forehead. A stern look was kept on the rolling waves.

Oliver saw a slight glimpse of his commander's left eye that was covered by black strands at all times. There was a light scar plastered under a closed lid.

"Eiro?" He asked in a gentle voice. The other snapped out of his gaze and turned his attention to his subordinate. "Yes?" He replied back with a soft smile. "I was wondering. . .why do you cover one of your eyes?"

The smile didn't falter even slightly as Eiro knelt down to face Oliver. "I get asked that more often than you think." He put his pointer finger up. "I usually tell them it's a secret." He gave him a wink and chuckled.

"However. . ." He brought his hand down on the blonde's shoulder and then looked around, whispering. "I'll show you if you promise not to tell."

Oliver swallowed the nervousness he felt in his chest and nodded slightly.

"Alright." Eiro ran his hand across his forehead and brushed the charcoal colored strands from his left eye. His eye was closed, but there was a clear scar that ran down from the top of his brow down to his lower lid. Slowly he fluttered his eye open to reveal a damaged cornea. His brown hue was clouded with a milky white shade and had a ring of gray. "I'm completely blind in this eye."

Oliver gasped. "Wow, really? I wouldn't have guessed. . .you don't appear as if you are." Eiro laughed kindheartedly. "Well, it was years ago that this happened. So I have learned how to function normally with it."

The blonde tilted his head. "So you weren't always like that? What happened to make you go blind?"

Eiro closed his eyes and let his hair fall back into place, setting his hand on Oliver's shoulder again. "That's a story for another day, curious little kitten."

The tailor folded his arms and pouted. "No fair."
