A small peck on the cheeks was given before changing into a warm embrace. The taller girl stroked the other's hair gently, the two of them sitting side by side on a little swing in the middle of a giant garden full of glass sculptures.
"Eli-chi..." the shorter one murmured, closing her eyes and letting herself be caught in the other's embrace. "Why must it be like this? Why must this love be so painful?"
The blonde girl sighed, continuing to stroke the other's long purple-hair. "I don't know, Nozomi. I wish that one day we could go out like this together, but sadly that time doesn't seem like it will ever come soon."
The two broke away, each staring into the other's eyes with an expression full of remorse and longing. Together they could see a glimmer of hope, a glimpse of a future where they could be together openly, but then reality returned and their gazes went far away into a present where such a thing could never happen. Holding each other's hands gently they continued to swing in their own secret garden, a garden where no one else ever visits. Despite there being no one else, the two girls needed no one but each other.
"Eli-chi!"
Eli hurried over to where Nozomi was sitting, brushing away tears that had formed on the other's eyes. "It's okay, Nozomi. I'm here for you."
Nozomi continued to sob as Eli sat next to her, continuing to whisper comforting words into her ear. "T-they're going to destroy this place, Eli! Tear it down for creating a stupid mall! What do we do? I don't want to lose this place!" She hiccuped, rubbing at her eyes furiously in an attempt to get the tears to go away. "This is the only place I can be with you!"
"I know, Nozomi," the blonde whispered softly, "I know. I promise, I won't let this place be destroyed. No matter the consequences."
"I'm sorry, Nozomi."
Nozomi blinked, staring carefully into Eli's eyes. "Why are you sorry, Eli?" she asked gently. "You stopped this place from being torn down, you managed to convince the city council that this place would be better left as a park."
"Nozomi.. Don't you realize that our secret garden won't be so secret anymore?"
The two sat on the swing in silence, simply gazing at each other softly. They didn't make any advances, didn't speak, their eyes told each other all they needed to know. Their want to feel each other's embrace and their knowledge that soon all they can do is to painfully gaze at each other from afar. Glimmering tears fell down both of their cheeks as they shared a kiss, a promise that they won't forget each other and the love they share.
And so the two of them fell asleep in their secret garden, holding onto each other as if they were afraid of losing them. They slept with a sense of content and yet their was an underlying feeling of loneliness beneath it all.
Their secret garden was no longer a secret. It had become a beautiful park, full of glass butterflies and blooming flowers. A flash of blonde passed a flash of violet, as the two girls exchanged sad glances before walking away, knowing that their love was a forbidden one. Their romance was a secret one, made by two girls who only wanted to be with each other, but was trapped in a world where those feelings weren't allowed. Their feelings as girls who are in love with love are full of pain and longing, as they accept the reality that the only thing they could do was to gaze painfully from each other and remember the warmth that they are forbidden from having.
AN: I might flesh this out more later, this idea just kind of randomly came to me in the car hence the lack of much development. Anyway, yep, NozoEli. See, I chose my name for a reason! Disclaimer that no one cares about: I don't own Love Live! or blah blah blah
