Jay-Jay and Tracy were feeling jealous one sunny day.
You see, Snuffy and Herky were both green, and Jay-jay and Tracy were painted blue and purple.
And Jay-Jay and Tracy wanted to be green, just like Snuffy and Herky.
"It's not fair!", Jay-Jay said, "Snuffy and Herky are painted green, so why can't we be like them?"
"They're green and fit in. I wish the both of us were green too!", replied Tracy.
"Why do you think we can't get painted like they are?"
"I don't know," replied Tracy. "But I bet Brenda will let us if we ask her."
Brenda Blue was in her workshop, reading an airplane magazine when Jay-jay and Tracy came in.
"Can I help you out with something?" she asked.
"Why aren't the two of us painted green like Snuffy and Herky?", asked the two.
"You are painted blue and purple because that's how the two of you are. And that's what makes you individual jet planes.", said Brenda Blue.
Jay-Jay and Tracy thought it made sense but they thought about how they still wanted to be painted green.
"How about you and I paint ourselves green and be special like Snuffy and Herky.", Jay-Jay said to Tracy.
"I like that idea. Let's try it", said Tracy.
So they painted themselves green and looked very brightly colored with green all over them.
They thought they looked really special.
When Big Jake came along, he was shocked.
"What happened to you too?" he asked.
"We painted ourselves green to be special like Snuffy and Herky", they said to Big Jake.
"Why would you two want to be green? You two are blue and purple jet planes." he said.
Jay-Jay and Tracy looked at each other and then thought Big Jake was right. They looked more special in their real colors than being painted green.
"You're right, Big Jake. The both of us shouldn't have painted ourselves green, we should have stayed our real colors as jet planes.", they said to Big Jake.
Big Jake smiled kindly. "It's alright you two," he said. "You shouldn't disobey orders, but there's nothing wrong with being painted differently."
"It's okay with us. The two of us like to be painted green for a day. Our real colors are what makes us individual and special jet planes.", they said.
Jay-Jay and Tracy then thought they were both special jet planes with their true real colors and being true to others and themselves.
