Branching Out

She wears the earrings of hope on her ears

A scarf of boldness is tied around her head,

Roots of a disordered field strings from her head

She walks with these things trying to find a place to be needed, to be wanted.

Leaving her dark past she seeks her bright future

Eyes glistening with a shine indescribable

Nose spread to smell the sweetness of life

Lips full to drink the good that her young life beholds.

Bags form under her eyes to show her years to come,

The root of the bible hangs from her head so that she can always have an understanding of things,

Love, exalted up high so she has something to lift her spirits up.

Happiness surrounds her body and keeps her company every day.

Her family hangs down the right side of her head, always close to her

Peace hangs from the left to show her vulnerable side

But at the bottom to the right lies a dark open door,

This door represents the closer she never received, lurking for a place to fill in the blank.

Branching out she seeks a place to fill her emptiness.
