Here it is! The long awaited (I wish) Haiku Girl! I finally got around to publishing it, even though I have other stories that could use some editing, and the results are what you see now. I didn't put a lot of effort into the title as you can probably see, so sorry if that matters a lot.
Just another night,
Sitting with the other girls,
Sharing our haikus
The hard wooden floor,
Makes our knees ache with stiffness,
But we can't complain
It's like a convent,
I live with other women,
We're provided for
Teacher's steely gaze,
Corrects any rude manners,
With strict punishment
So I stand to read,
I'm not a strand out of place,
A rose in my hair
I read my haiku,
Teacher smiles politely,
But she's judging me
Then out of nowhere,
A boy is in the window,
Looking so confused
I quickly step down,
To not get involved with him,
But I wanted to
I never see boys,
Especially not like him,
With crystal blue eyes
A water tribe boy,
Stumbling into our poetry,
He can't back out now
He speaks in haikus,
Just like the rest of us here,
Five, Seven, Five… Hmm
He might fit right in,
Even though he's not a girl,
I really like him
Teacher walks to him,
Challenging him with her words,
Trying to break him
I want him to stay,
I want to cry out and say,
" Don't do this teacher!"
But this was a test,
In his initiation,
I can't interfere
Please water tribe boy,
Who says his name is Sokka,
Sokka, prove yourself
Now he smiles, he won!
Teacher retreats to her seat,
Victory is his!
"My name is Sokka,
It's pronounced with an –okka,
Young ladies, I'll rock ya"
No, no! What is this?
Six syllables at the end?
Triumphant no more
We glance at teacher,
It's her decision to make,
I plead with my eyes
She just glares at me,
I shouldn't be defiant
But I wish I could
One wave of her hand,
Our security throws him,
Wind beats on his face
I want to cry now,
He is gone, forever gone,
And he won't come back
Thanks for reading! Reviews are always welcome!
