Shawn buys the car. It's basically a death trap with four wheels and it maxes out one of Gus's credit cards, but his name is on the title and it only hurts a little bit.
Being with Juliet is everything he always thought it would be. She's smart as hell and gorgeous and laughs at his bad jokes. When they watch Ghostbusters, she knows all the words to the theme song, and when he lets slip that he thinks Cary Elwes is totally doable, she rolls her eyes and asks 'Who doesn't?' Things are low key and easy, and when he hurts or disappoints her-and he knows he will, it's only a matter of time-she'll make her sad kitten face, but will still forgive him and take him back.
Basically, she's perfect, and Shawn's...fine. It's good. Really.
He doesn't want to tell Lassie. Jules accepts that, probably thinks it has something to do with how overprotective her partner can be or Shawn working on cases, but he can't fully articulate why he doesn't want him to know. Still, Lassie's a pretty good detective, even if Shawn will never tell him that to his face, and the first time he visibly stops himself from manhandling Shawn, he realizes that he already knows. And Lassie's volatile and unsafe and holds a grudge like nobody's business, but he's also a Good Man, so it goes without saying that he'll keep his mouth shut as long as Shawn keeps Jules happy.
So he does, because he loves Jules. He drives the car and eats Christmas dinner with her family and doesn't run away to Mexico when she mentions that she wants kids someday. And if sometimes, late at night when she's nestled against his side and even the soft whisper of her breath can't lull him to sleep, he dwells a little too long on large, rough hands pushing him back against a wall, calls up the memory of an angry voice calling him an idiot while he prances around a crime scene, or wishes that her eyes were a little bluer, then that's really no one's business but his own.
