I stared at Jane in disbelief. All this time, he wanted to break it off with her. Rafael is a jerk, that's for sure. Jane and I walked into the hotel, wanting to stay away from him.

"Why'd did you make me come into work today?", Jane asked with tears still streaming from her eyes.

"You still have a job here, even if the owner is your ex.", I said, trying to reason with her.

We were talking while walking, not realizing that we were leading ourselves toward Rafael. Sitting at the bar, talking to a woman. She was gorgeous, and he was his smiling, flirty self.

Jane realized this before I did, and let out a weeping cry, running to the lockers. I felt bad for her, so bad, in fact, that I went right up to Rafael after the girl left.

"You had no right to break up with Jane the way you did!", I shouted.

"Well, it's not my fault that I'm in love with someone else", he said, smiling.

I looked up at him, trying to figure out who it was, and he stared right back at me.

"Was it that girl? The one that just left?", I said, lowering my voice.

"Of course not! That was my father's wife", he said, laughing.

With that, he stood up and walked behind me. He was so close, I could smell a hint of cologne and fresh toothpaste. He went up to my ear and whispered something that I regret thinking out.

"It's you."

After that, I felt a hard slap on my butt. I turned around, only to find Rafael winking and walking off.

I stood there. Not wanting to move. I knew that if I did something about what just happened, I could either lose the only real friend that I've ever had, or lose a chance to be with someone who said they were in love with me.

I made a choice, and instantly, I knew it was the wrong one.
