Yes, a short first chapter but please don't think this is how it's going to continue. Longer chapters to come! This fic is inspired by the song Wires by Athlete, which I'm obsessed with at the moment. I was actually blasting it while writing this :D I will be updating this story every week, on a Wednesday. I have this story planned out and know when it's going to end and how it will end, but I do have an idea for a sequel if this one is picked up well ;) *hint, hint* reviews! reviews! *hint, hint*
Anyway, one with the show. Here is chapter one!
WIRES
You got wires, going in
You got wires, coming out of your skin
Beckett looked down at the seemingly lifeless body. Laying still in the middle of the cold, plain bed, the distinct brown locks lay contrasting to the pale skin.
The light hum of the low level beeping was almost soothing to Kate's ears, it would normally have lulled her to sleep, but the situtation made it hard to relax.
She shifted slightly on the stubborningly cozy chair. Why did it have to be so damn comfortable? She didn't want to sleep, she wanted to stay awake. Everyone told to try to sleep, it may actually make her feel better. But no, Kate didn't sleep. She made a job of keeping her eyes open, not to miss a second of this person laying cold on a hospital bed. She would never forgive herself if they awoke to her asleep.
Lanie broke her coffee hourly. Silently, placing it on the small table beside her. Not uttering a word and leaving as quickly as she arrived. Maybe she didn't know what to say, what could she say? Or maybe she didn't try, because she knew she wouldn't get an answer. She knew Kate wouldn't stop, looking blankly at the still bed.
Kate studied the pale lips, still slightly blue but gaining the pinkish color slowly. She then studied the eyes, or more eyelids. Long lushish lashes swept along the eyelids. Even those were perfect, how had she not noticed them before? Maybe because she was so lost on what lay beneath them, dark orbs of ocean blue, the slight hint of green when the light hit them. She wanted to see them, see the life in them. To see the mischievous glint working behind them.
Kate began to become hysterical. Hot fresh tears filled her eyes and her lips begin to tremble. The first tear feel silently on her cheek. She bit her lip trying to stop the violent trembling, before she knew it she was out of her chair, shakingly moving towards the bed.
Her hand lay like a ghost in the air, too afraid to move or to touch. Then her hand gently moved towards the bed and lay on the cheek. It felt cold to the touch, too cold. That was it. She broke down.
Her legs imitated her lip, they trembled. Her teeth let go of her now bleeding lip and she began to sob. She was falling, falling into darkness. Just as it got too much for her, she was caught.
Strong arms enclosed her. They held her up. She sobbing uncontrolably now, letting it all out. The pain from over the last 16 years. She cried for the last 48 hours, she cried for 16 years ago, she cried for 3 years ago, she cried for it all. She cried for her.
Then she felt the arms begin to move her to the chair, and gently held her close. His arms rocked her back and forth, trying so hard to fight away the demons.
He kissed her hair. "She'll be alright, Kate," He whisper lovingly in her ear. "I promise," said Richard Castle.
After one long moment, she lifted her head and looked at the still body.
She uttered one word: "Baby..."
And there you go! Hope you all enjoyed...slightly :'D I know it's very confusing! But stay with me, I will answer come of your questions and give you like 100 more, but y'know ;)
Until the next time - Laura.
