Just a little friendship story.

Lily sat on the sofa in the Gryffindor tower, her head leaning on Remus' shoulder as she watched the sight in front of her.

James Potter was flirting with one of the girls in the lower year.

"Has he given up on me?" She wondered.

"No," Remus replied, making her jump.

"Did I say that out loud?" She asked, moving to look at her friend.

"You did," Remus confirmed. "He's been pining over you since he was thirteen, Lily, plus no matter how much that girl flirts, his eyes keep moving back to you. It's you he wants. If you like him, go for it."

"But he's a prat."

"He's your prat. He's not been so bad this year," Remus replied.

Her head rested on his shoulder again and she went back to discreetly watching James.

"If you tell Sirius how you feel, I'll tell James that I like him."

"Love him."

"I... what?"

"You love him. It's obvious." Remus stood up, and stretched his legs.

"And you love Sirius." It was a statement and not a question.

"Seems we're both very observant," Remus replied. "Are you sure about this?"

Lily nodded. Remus would chicken out at the last minute and she wouldn't have to say anything. She watched as Remus walked across the room to where Sirius was standing talking to Marlene Mckinnon and watched as Remus leaned in to whisper something in his friend's ear.

Within seconds, Sirius Black had pushed Remus against the wall, their lips locked together and Remus' fingers in his friends hair. Marlene looked amused as she returned to her friends.

She panicked slightly before turning back to James who was staring at the scene, his mouth open in shock. James walked away from the girls, dropping down next to Lily.

"What did you say to him?"

"Who? Remus?" Lily asked.

"Yeah. I've missed something big."

"Well, I said... if he tells Sirius how he feels, I'll tell you how I feel. That I like... love you."

Without a word in response, she felt arms move under her legs as James scooped her up, and he marched towards the portrait hole.

"Congratulations, Moony. You got your girl, and I got mine."

Sirius moved away only long enough to utter a few words. "Oi, who are you calling a girl, Potter. I -" His words were cut off by Remus' lips meeting his again.

"Remind me to thank Remus for being an excellent friend," James said.

"I think Sirius is thanking him enough," Lily said. "Now put me down, Potter, before I show you the newest stinging hex I've learnt."
