DISCLAIMER: I don't own Harry Potter things. By that I mean, characters, phrases, etc. The concept is mine. I stole it from one of my fiction press stories entitled: 'Are You Ready To Be My Everything?'! Check that out, if you want to know how it ends. R/R!

"James, just give it up!" laughed Sirius Black, shaking his shaggy black hair out of his eyes.

James widened his hazel eyes in mock innocence and surprise. "Give what up, Padfoot?"

"You know what he means, James," said Peter Pettigrew.

"Yeah. You've been eyeing her that way for years. Face it, Lily Evans is not in love with you, James Potter!" groaned Remus Lupin.

James shook his head and watched the short girl pass. "Yes, she is. She just doesn't know it yet."

His three best friends breathed a sigh of defeat. They had constantly attempted to get their friend off of Lily Evans and onto someone else, but it seemed impossible. Other girls loved James, how couldn't they? He was gorgeous to most everyone, except Lily.

It wasn't that she despised James, she didn't really like him either, and the fact that he was infatuated with her, drove her crazy.

James, however, instantly fell for Lily the moment she directed her green eyes at him and told him to move. Sirius, Remus, and Peter were beginning to think his obsession was unhealthy, but there was absolutely no way to get him unhooked. She had mesmerized him, probably being the first thing he wanted yet couldn't get with a simple smile and turning on the old Potter charm. She was like a puzzle that he was determined to figure out, though that didn't stop him from dating other girls, although his eyes were always wondering back on Lily.

When they had been put in the same house, he was positive it was fate. Even if she shoved him out of her way when he would attempt to kiss her goodnight, her best friend, Gabrielle holding back a fit of giggles.

"GET AWAY, JAMES!" she would yell, but he didn't care. He was in love.

"Oh, Jamsie-poo?" came Sirius' teasing voice as he waved a hand in front of James' face.

James snapped out of his daze. "Huh?"

"Daydreaming about your beloved Lily?" Remus smirked.

"And staring at her as well," squeaked Peter.

"I was not!"

"Just look at her!" Sirius exclaimed, nodding in her direction. She was sitting across the grounds, with her friends, just glaring at James angrily. He smiled and said to his friends, "This is the year. I can feel it."

"You said that last year," Peter said.

"And the year before that," Sirius added.

"And every year since you met her our first year, only different terminology as you grew. Face it, that girl will never be yours," Remus commented, sighing.

James looked back at Lily, who was now sitting alone, reading one of her favorite Muggle books, A Walk to Remember. "I hope you're wrong, Moony," he said softly, still looking at her.

"As do I," Remus muttered under his breath.
