Authors Note: Okay I have noticed that no one has done a story I Prim's POV on the reaping, so I decided to do one, this is a one shot. Please review.
Disclaimer: I do not own Hunger Games.
Today is my first reaping and I don't know what to expect. I wanted to sign up for tesserae but Katniss wouldn't let me. She has her name in the bowl too many times. I hear the door open and Katniss walks in with an abundance of food. We ate bread this morning and saving the rest for the feast tonight.
The morning passes in a blur and it is time for the reaping. I am wearing Katniss's first reaping outfit as we walk to the center of district twelve. I hold onto Katniss's hand tightly until I have to let go. She goes off with the other sixteen year olds, and I walk over to stand with my fellow twelve year olds.
I see the bowls that hold everyone's name and gulp. I quickly look away and notice that one of the three chairs is empty. Probably the old drunk forgot what day it was. I turn my attention back to the people around me and wonder which one I will never see again.
"It is both a time for repentance and a time for thanks," the major begins. He reads the past victors. I keep my eyes glued on my feet while I wait for the names to be called. The major introduces Effie Trinket, the districts escort.
"Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor! Ladies first!" It is the same thing she says every year, nothing but the names she calls out changes. She walks up to the big bowl and pulls out a single slip of paper and walks back to the podium and calls "Primrose Everdeen."
NO it can't be me I only had one slip. Without my permission my feet move towards the stage, and silently start to climb the steps when I hear her voice. What is he doing?
"Prim! Prim!" No Katniss don't do it. She won't will she no, I won't let her. She runs until she reaches me. She pushed me behind her in one motion.
"I volunteer! I volunteer as a tribute!" No, no, no, she can't if she goes into the arena she will die, she can't die. I desperately grab on to her, I refuse to let her go.
"Lovely! But I believe there's a small natter of introducing the reaping winner and then asking for volunteers, and if one does co forth then we, um…"
"What does it matter?" the mayor asks. The mayor is found of Katniss, because his daughter, Madge is one of Katniss's few friends. "What does it matter?" he asks one more time "Let her come forward."
This can't be happening I won't let it. "No, Katniss! No! You can't go!" No she can't do this they can't let her I need her.
"Prim, let go," Katniss voice is harsh. I feel as if I have been slapped. "Let go!"
Someone is pulling on me from behind and I can't hold onto her anymore. I try to get free but the arms are holding me in place.
"Up you go, Catnip," says Gale. It's Gale that has a hold of me. That traitor he is Katniss's best friend and he is going to let her die. Gale carries me off to my mom.
No this can't be I don't want to hear anymore, I close my eyes and go to sleep.
Authors note: Okay that wasn't my best piece ever but I want to hear your thoughts about it so please review.
