Three Little Words
There are three little words that every woman longs to hear.
I remember how you looked as you pulled me away from the fire, my hand so small that it was almost lost in yours. Your shyness was engaging, your uncertainty endearing. You took me away, far away from the others, into a dark corner where they could not hear your whispered words. For what you had to say was for my ears, and mine alone.
Not that the others would remain in ignorance for long. Such things are always discovered in time, particularly when quarters are so close. But could I blame you for your caution? Certainly not. I doubt the words had ever before left your lips, and even through my exhaustion I could clearly imagine the reactions that they would bring.
A snicker from Yoshimo. A mutter from Jan about the foolishness of the young. Another of Minsc's benign smiles. Jaheira… It had long been her duty to care for me. Could she ever accept another doing so?
But still you held my hand, and looked into my eyes, speaking the words that yet touch my heart and bring grateful tears to my eyes.
"I'll cook tonight."
Disclaimer: I own nothing related to Bioward, Interplay, or the Baldur's Gate series other than copies of the games themselves and an overactive imagination. Thank you.
