The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones- Clary Fray

Simon.

No matter what has happen in the past or what will happen in the future, he will always be my best friend. And you know what? He turned into a rat because I left him alone at the party with - a slightly drunk- Isabelle a lot of Downworlders and enchanted drinks. I dragged him into this -it's all my fault. But wait, not only is he a rat but he was taken by vampires as well; they thought that he was one of their own. Why? Because sometimes when vampires get drunk they turn in to bats or rats, of course, because that's common knowledge isn't it?

So, where are Jace and I? We're outside the old Hotel Dumont. The vampires probably thought it was funny to change the 'n' to an 'r'; the sign says Dumort, Du mort - Hotel of death.Okay, Simon's in The Hotel of Death with a nest of vampires. The same Simon who always managed to make me laugh when I needed him to. The same Simon who I've known for ten years now. The same Simon who's a part of the 3 most loved people in my life, in my heart.

The brother I never had.

So, we found an old service ally, for the hotel, and went down it. We were met with a pavement coated in garbage like glass bottles and old mouldy cardboard boxes that stank- really, really bad. I also saw some animal bones which I thought were tooth picks at a first glance, because that makes sense, right? No? Ah well. It was only then that Jace advised me not to "look too closely"' because a vampire's trash '" is rarely a pretty picture". Thanks for the heads up.

You always manage to get stuck in the greatest of places Simon, thanks…

A skinny, dark eyed, Spanish boy spoke to us and stepped out of the shadows- cliché, but creepy none the less. He told us to stay away. He said that the Hotel was a dangerous place to be. Yeah, like we didn't know that already, kid.

Jace tried to convince him that we were going in for a prank so he would leave us alone. You're such a great liar Jace. He was a bit suspicious- I would be as well, If I were him. He was very adamant about us leaving. I really wanted him to leave. I wanted to go get Simon. I wanted Simon safe again.

This guy, Raphael, knew about the vampires that lived here, apparently everyone in the neighbourhood did. Why do they stay then? I don't know. Then he told us that his brother and a group of his friends went in there once. They took blessed weapons with them. They went to go and try to kill the vampires. They never came out. Never to be seen again. All that was left of his brother and friends were their clothes, outside his aunt's front door.

I felt so bad for him. I pitied him. But that wasn't going to stop me from going in there. I couldn't leave Simon to meet the same fate that met those boys. And he wouldn't. Jace is a Shadowhunter and I'm just starting to become one. We have special weapons. Ones that can kill a vampire. And Jace has killed plenty of vampires before. So, when Jace told him this Raphael realised what we were and probably decided that we were too stubborn to leave.

He offered to show us how to get in. We accepted.

Hold on Simon we're coming.
