This is a request for Miamitravel.
The story is set when Sheamus, the original Nexus, Orton, and a few other superstars were still on RAW.
Hope you like it and enjoy!
I had always set out to make something of myself. I wanted to be the best at everything, make something of myself, and I thought that being a production assistant in the WWE would help me do all that… I was wrong. I was a glorified gopher and I had been with the company for two years. I was the last production assistant they hired and I was still the 'rookie' after two years. I had talked to several people and they told me stick with the WWE for a few years and I would be fine. I was hoping that was the case, not to mention I got some perks out of it.
I had gotten to travel all over the world, constantly be around superstars, earn a good paycheck, and gotten some good experience on my resume. I knew that I could have it a lot worse, but I also realized that I was giving up a lot to have this job. I was 28 and I was giving up having a 'normal' life. I didn't see my friends all the time, I barely got enough sleep, and having a boyfriend wasn't even a possibility. I was a plain Jane. I had dirty blonde hair, brown eyes, and had nothing really spectacular about me.
I sighed as I looked in the mirror and my walkie went off. I was backstage at RAW and I was needed by the producer. Beth was a great producer, a bitch a times, and had become a close friend. I ran to where I knew she would be and she huffed when she finally saw me.
"Risa, I was looking for you. I need you to run this to Stephen (Sheamus), ASAP." She said and I nodded.
I grabbed the paper, which happened to be last minute changes, and went to his locker room. I swore that I knew that inner workings of most the arenas in the US better than I knew the neighborhood that I lived in. I knocked on the door and he opened it a second later.
"Hey, Carissa, problems?" he asked me. I had seen Stephen in his trucks many times, but he always took my breath away. I handed him the paper, which he read, and then frowned.
"Thanks, love." He said.
"Good luck." I said and headed back to the production area.
I was good friends with Stephen and had helped him through a few fights with his girlfriend. I was actually good friends with a lot of the superstars, but only a few with the divas. I didn't want to get into a 'my boobs are bigger than yours' fight so I just avoided most of them.
I got back there and things were going pretty smoothly. I was sitting there when Beth wanted me to run something somewhere else. I delivered it to Beth and she smiled at me.
"Carissa, a few of us are going out tonight? You want to go?" she asked me and I took a breath. I had been out with Beth, Phil, Nattie, and TJ before, but I didn't want to feel like the 5th wheel.
"I don't want to be the 5th wheel." I said and someone laughed behind me. I turned to see Mike and Maryse looking at us.
"You will always be just a wheel." She said and I pursed my lips together.
"Better to be a wheel then a slut." I said and walked off. Maryse didn't look happy and Beth was smirking.
I was walking back when someone bumped into me and I went crashing to the floor, followed by whatever soft drink they had been drinking at the time. I sighed when a hand came into my view. I accepted it and stood up.
"Um, I'm really sorry." A soft voice with a distinct accent said.
"It's no problem; I'm used to it." I said and finally looked up to see Paul Lloyd looking at me.
"I still feel bad." He said as he handed me the towel that had been around his neck. I accepted it and patted as much dry as I could.
"Don't… seriously." I said and he smiled.
"Are you new here?" he asked me and I had to laugh.
"No, I have been a production assistant for two years." I said and his face fell. I knew that he was trying to make me feel better.
"I'm Paul." He said and I smiled.
"I'm…" I was saying when my walkie went off.
"Carissa! I need you!" Beth said in a singing voice.
"Carissa… and I have to go." I said as I handed him back his towel.
I ran off before he could say anything else. I ran back there and Beth gave me a weird look. I looked down and realized that the soft drink had pretty much drenched my entire front side.
"Ran into someone." I said.
"I hope it's someone hot." She said and I rolled my eyes.
"Nope." I said and she laughed. She knew that I had the biggest crush on Matt (Evan Bourne) since the day I started.
"You know, if you talk to him, then he might notice you." Dave (Finlay) added.
"Yeah right, I'm not a diva. I have nothing that he would want, well, ok so maybe one thing and I'm not giving that up just to talk to him." I said and Beth was laughing at me. I grabbed a t-shirt and changed before sitting in the production area the rest of the night. I was glad that tonight was over, but that meant that in two nights we were having a PPV.
I got done and I was walking to the rental with Beth when Nattie spotted me.
"Come on, Carissa, we are going out!" she said and I got ready to answer, but Beth jumped in for me.
"She will be right there." She said and I looked at her like she was crazy.
"What?" I asked her.
"Go, have fun, we don't have to be on the road until noon and I will make sure that you are up." She said and I sighed.
"But…" I was saying.
"As your boss, I don't care, but as your friend… you need to have fun. Plus, it looks like Matt is going with them." She said and I shook my head as Nattie walked up.
"Come on, you can change shirts in the car." She said and dragged me off.
I rode with Nattie and TJ to the nearest bar. Nattie gave me a shirt that I changed into, in the backseat, right before we got there. I got out and looked down.
"Nattie! I can't wear this." I said and she smirked.
"Yes, you can, come on." Beth said as she and Phil walked up.
"Looking good, Risa." Phil added and I smiled.
I had to admit that this was weird to wear, but it felt good to have complements. I fixed the one shoulder black top before walking in. I was in front of Nattie when I felt my hair tie be pulled out of my hair. She smirked and ruffled my hair. I shook my head as we found a table and sat down.
We ordered the first round as more wrestlers slowly filled in. I was sitting there when someone sat next to me; I looked over and freaked it was Matt. I had worked in the WWE for two years and never said a word to him.
"Hi Carissa." He said and I was shocked that he knew my name.
