I do not own any part of inception in any way shape or form.
It was yet again another late night, the third this week. Ariadne doubted that it would be the last. She checked her watch. It read 2:00 AM. The only thing that she really wanted to be doing was sleeping but she has to finish the layout for the second dream level by the next day. It was the mixture of exhaustion and pure will power to get her work done that caused her not to notice that she was not the last one left in the warehouse.
"You should really go home and get some sleep."
She jumped up. "Arthur what are you still doing here?"
"I should be the one asking you that question. Go home and sleep. How much coffee have you consumed already today? At some point we have all tried to work with no sleep and it never works out. I have seen people mess up jobs from lack of sleep."
She looked at all the coffee cups littering her station and around it. She doesn't even like coffee. "And would you be one of those people?" Ariadne could tell by the way he looked down that he indeed was. A smile played on her lips. "Arthur if I need sleep then so do you. You got here before me and didn't take a lunch break, or any for that matter."
He shrugged. "it is a part of my job. If you wont go home then why don't i take you out for a cup of coffee then walk you home?"
Pink slowly crept up her neck and to her face. The dent in the floor became the most interesting thing in the world. She really had no idea what to do. There was no doubt that Arthur was hot and definitely her type, but she wasn't sure she trusted her self not to make a big fool out of herself, and she really did need to get her work done.
"I would love to Arthur but i would rather just go home and sleep, as long as you do too."
She doesn't know whether it was all the caffeine in her system or pure exhaustion but she found the next words falling out of her mouth. "But i would love to tomorrow when i have less work to do."
Arthur smiled a very rare full smile. Arthur has dimples. She made a mental note to try and get him to smile as much as she could.
"I would love to Ariadne. It is a date. Good night."
"Goodnight," she managed. "it is a date." She cleaned up optimistically. She was looking forward to her and Arthur's "coffee date" a lot more now.
Their coffee date went perfectly. It became a regular occurrence for the rest of the job. and they were both perfectly okay with that.
