-1It's our night to go out to dinner. We just closed a case, so there shouldn't be any lingering tension from work. I'm looking forward to having a very good night with Seely.

I'm on the second level, where I normally observe my team, looking down on the lab. Motion attracts my attention and I turn towards it. My heart stops…

'Come on Cam, you knew how they felt when you revived your relation with Booth.' The small smiles the careful touches, the way they have absolute faith in each other…'You wanted to win for once. After all, you've known him for longer. Why wouldn't he take your side over the partner he never wanted and still complains about?'

There they are, sharing something intensely personal with each other. He's comforting her. That set of his shoulders, the abnormal posture she's taken…

'It didn't work out that way though, did it? He even told you to your face that he would back her up all the way. Her. Temperance Brennan, the forensic anthropologist, the person he still refers to as a squint.' She hadn't been there at the beginning, but all the signs were there now. The annoying nickname that has become an endearment only Booth is allowed to use without a severe lecture, the way he lets her ask questions that he has no reason to answer and the ones that insult his morals and beliefs…

There, she's getting up. He must have said something to make her uncomfortable. She's closing herself of from him again. Wait, what are they…? They're hugging! It's not a friendly hug either. There's too much going on in their posture for it to be just a friendly, spontaneous hug. The way they cling to each other…

'It's over, isn't it? Whatever this is between Seely and me is finished, he just doesn't realize it yet. The emotion in just that hug is more than he shows me in bed. Why'd he pick her over me? He's known me longer and we've been involved before. He met her maybe a year or so ago, and they disagreed at first sight. What changed?'

There's no point in staying now. He won't leave her here after what happened today. I should have predicted this. He goes running when something happens to her. Nothing could tear him away from her now. She has his heart, and I'm beginning to think he has hers. The next time Booth and I go out will be our last. I can't compete with her because he just doesn't care for ma like he cares for her.

I just hope they finally figure it out, before they find someone else that catches one of their eyes. Or something irreversible happens to one of them. Good luck Booth, Brennan. You're going to need it.

Sorry, this is not an update. This is my first ever story and I totally forgot the disclaimer! Whoopsie…therefore:

I do not own anything in relation to the show Bones. I do not profit in any way

from this story, and I am just borrowing the characters for my personal amusement.
