Maureen had fought once again with the lawyer and all she needed was an outlet the second she stormed out of the apartment. She grabbed a bolt cutter near the dumpsters and headed over to the space. The diva got to the space and saw that the doors were still bolted. With all her might, she managed to break the lock and kicked the door incognito style,

"You got nothin' on me Benny!" She said to herself.

She turned on the light switch, walked in and saw that the stage was in despair after the riot disaster. The television sets were smashed, the light tower where Joanne directed the spotlight had fallen, and the cable box had been ripped apart. The diva dropped her bag,

"Fuck."

She sighed and saw the only thing that was in one piece was an upright piano. In defeat, she picked up her bag and walked over to the piano. Maureen Johnson never liked playing instruments but her Mom would force her to take piano lessons to keep her from the streets. Although she couldn't remember any pieces, she had one song in mind that she kept hearing around the smoky cafes. She attempted to sing and play the song on the keys,

City of stars

Are you shining just for me?

City of stars

There's so much that I can't see

Who knows?

I felt it from the first embrace I shared with you

That now our dreams

They've finally come true..

Maureen felt calm. No rioting, no arguing with Joanne. Just her, the music and the stars. She continued playing and looked outside to see the beautiful starscape. Later that evening, Joanne had a feeling that Maureen had gone back to the space so she took the fastest train to the space. She arrived at the space to give the diva another lecture but heard someone on the piano. The lawyer swung open the door to find Maureen playing and singing on the keys,

City of stars

Just one thing everybody wants

There in the bars

And through the smokescreen of the crowded restaurants

It's love

Yes, all we're looking for is love from someone else

Maureen looked over at the the woman and continued to play the piano,

A rush,

A glance,

A touch,

A dance.

Maureen stopped playing, but Joanne slowly made her way to the bench and motioned her to keep playing. Only this time, they sang together. She wrapped her arm around Joanne,

A look in somebody's eyes

To light up the skies

To open the world and send it reeling

A voice that says, "I'll be here"

And "you'll be alright"

Joanne glanced at her girlfriend and sang,

I don't care if I know

Just where I will go

'Cause all that I need is this crazy feeling

A rat-tat-tat on my heart

They both sang again,

Think I want it to stay

City of stars

Are you shining just for me?

City of stars

You never shined so brightly.

Maureen ended the last note and looked at the lawyer.

"Please don't leave me Joanne. I'm not ready to be alone again." Maureen sniffled,

Joanne hugged her close, "I'm here baby, I'm here."

With that, Joanne softly kissed her lips and they both looked up at the stars.
