I apologize for the sucky title. I really apologize T.T I'm so not creative when it comes to titles...

Anyway, I wrote this several months ago, actually, but the lack of a title kept me from putting it up here. I finally just settled for something simple and to the point. Yes. It's their first post-Kira date. Fluff ensues.

"Okay, I'm gonna let go now, Mels, all right?"

"No, Matt. Not all right!" Mello replied frantically. "Matt? Matt, hold onto me!"

It was too late. The gamer's hands were no longer on Mello's hips to keep him steady. And he was now flailing his arms pathetically, trying to keep his balance.

This sucked. Mello missed having stable ground beneath his feet. Now there were wheels.

Matt said this would be fun. Matt said that rollerskating was easy and that he'd catch on quickly. Matt was a liar. The only 'catching on' that Mello was doing was catching onto the side railing to keep from falling on his leather-clad butt. Again.

"How are you doing?" Matt asked.

"How does it look like I'm doing?!" the blonde spat back. "How are you so good at this?"

"Well, I did this a lot as a kid...you know, before my mom and dad..."

"Yeah." Neither of them really liked bringing up the subject of their parents' deaths, so they'd keep those conversations short.

"Then after you left Wammy's, I was really bored and lonely without you," Matt continued, blushing. "So I kinda got back into it."

Mello continued to stare as the redhead glided gracefully across the rink. The smile on his face and the way his hair fluttered as he moved were adorable. He felt a little guilty that he couldn't seem to enjoy this little outing with Matt; it was their first date since Kira had been brought to justice. This was supposed to be a carefree and happy time.

And as much as Mello loved spending time with his gamer boyfriend and usually didn't care where they were as long as they were together, he really wished that he'd have picked a different venue this time. Something simple, like the park, or maybe a movie...

...But no, Matt said. That was too cliché, Matt said. Cliché, maybe, but at least Mello wouldn't have had to risk embarrassing himself.

"You're doing just fine, babe," the gamer said from behind Mello. This startled the blonde and caused him to almost fall again. Matt used his catlike reflexes to catch him, using the brakes on the front of his own skates to steady himself, at least somewhat.

"What do you mean, Matty? I suck at this," Mello replied.

"It just takes practice, Mels. Just like everything else," Matt told him, holding his waist again. "Once you get the hang of it, you'll be a pro in no time!"

The blonde smirked. "I bet I look like an idiot, flailing around like I have been, huh?"

"Nah, of course not," his lover said. "You're just...inexperienced. I thought you looked cute doing this, actually." He then tried to mimic the way Mello waved his arms wildly about, and, in the process, lost his balance and fell.

"You did that on purpose, didn't you?" the chocoholic asked.

"The arm waving, yes. But falling, no," the redhead said, rubbing his sore bottom.

Mello laughed. "That'll teach you to make fun of me, then."

Sigh...I'm such a dork XD
