I do not own One Tree Hill or its characters…

Chapter 1 - Home

Her store had finally completed with marble tops, stainless steel beams and crystal chandeliers. Clothes over bros had its make over and it was now ready for the locals of Tree hill to judge and hopefully welcome this multi million dollar business into its' community.

Brooke was happily prancing around, using a damp cloth wiping down any fingerprint marks she caught sight of. Day dreaming in her own world, she hadn't even heard any one enter the C/B Boutique.

Sneaking up to her ' I don't recall you being this clean in high school'. Hands immediately on her hips. 'Well, attention to detail is in my job description now, Luke'.

'You've done a great job Brooke, I'm happy that you're where you wanted to be in high school. I remember the dress you made for Haley on her wedding day, you made her dream come true, and she truly felt like a princess.

There were no words in response but a warm smile that graced her features. Haley had been her best friend of senior year. Undoubtedly a great friend when she had returned home from New York. Tree Hill had always been home and probably always will. Even though, phone calls were rare and appearances at Jamie's birthday never happened, as soon as Clothes over Bro's fall line was revealed at every catwalk exclusively, no VIP had ever been more important than Haley James Scott. There were many things that money could buy, houses, cars, and hosting unlimited parties but when it came down to it, true friends were one in a million.

It made Brooke quite sad that she could never visit or even keep in touch like she intended, words spoken four years ago at the river court, a promise that she didn't quite fulfil. Yet she knew with every package she sent Haley, full of the latest trendy clothes that she had felt the love invested in that cardboard box. Automatically, like clock work, in two working days, there would be a thank – you card containing the encouraging words of a wonderful and nurturing friend, teacher and mother accompanied by the meaningful drawings of child who wanted the love and attention of his father.

'So why did you decide to have your store here in Tree Hill?' A question he already knew the answer but could not refrain himself from asking.

'The same reason you coach little league on Sunday, coach the ravens and decide to be the best selling author recreating his magic where it all began, because it's home, it's where we belong'.

'I seriously thought you would never come back, I didn't want to call you and tell you about the situation regarding Nathan, because I knew you would drop it all to support Hales and she wouldn't want you to sacrifice your passion in order to help her regain her life'. Lucas took a seat and stared around the room that use to be solely where he enjoyed his free time before playing for the ravens. Many memories that Lucas cherished were in the kitchen where he use to say grace as a young child with his uncle Keith.

'I know how much this place means to you' Tilting her head to offer him an understanding smile. 'That's why I brought it; you and Karen have helped me when I needed it. In a way, this is my thank – you Luke, thanks for making me a better person, for having faith in me and actually believing in who I could become, that's all I ever needed in someone'.
