Author's Note: I first got the brain storm for this story when I saw the "When You're Gone" video this morning on VH1 I started it in my second period IPC class (During a dull moment of which we seem to have a lot in that class) and I had it finished by my eighth period Spanish class.
I always needed time on my own
I never thought I'd need you there when I cried
Sara could hear the girls playing with the dogs outside. She was lying on the bed silently crying. Mark had been on the road for five months. He had been gone for longer periods of time than this. But for some reason she felt so depressed about him being gone this time.
And the days feel like years when I'm alone.
And the bed where you lie is made up on your side.
She closed her eyes and thought back to the day he left to go back on the road. The girls were sad like they always were when their daddy left. Mark scooped up Gracie and Chasey at the same time and gave them both a big hug. They each kissed him on the cheek. "Bye Daddy."
"Be good for your Momma okay?" He replied putting his daughters down. Then he hugged Sara.
"I hate it when you have to leave" She said burying her face in his shoulder. Mark rested his head on top of hers "I know" he said quietly. Then he kissed her. Sara watched her husband get into the taxi that was waiting for him. She watched from the doorway as it turned the corner and disappeared.
When you walk away
I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now?
Sara turned over and looked at the framed picture of them on their wedding day on the nightstand and started crying harder.
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
When you're gone the words I need to hear to always get me through the day
And make it okay
I miss you
She got out of bed, dried her tears and went downstairs to the backyard to watch Gracie and Chasey play soccer. It reminded her of the time she and Mark had been goalies for them. The memory made her laugh.
I've never felt this way before
Everything that I do
Reminds me of you
Sara shivered as a cold wind breezed past her. She pulled Mark's jacket tighter around herself. When she wore his jacket, it was like being in his arms is even smelled a little like the body spray he wore sometimes.
And the clothes you left
They lie on the floor
And they smell just like you
I love the things that you do
When you walk away
I count the steps that you take
Do you see how much I need you right now?
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
When you're gone the words I need to hear to always through the day
And make it okay
I miss you
Sara took her cell phone out of her pocket and looked at the screen. Mark should've called by now. Why didn't he? She put the cell phone on her lap.
We were made for each other
Out here forever
I know we were
And all I ever wnated was for you to know
Everything I do I give my heart and soul
I can hardly breathe I need to feel you here with me
When you're gone
The pieces of my heart are missing you
The cell phone bleeped. She was getting a text message. She picked it up.
When you're gone
The face I came to know is missing too
"Come to the front door- Mark" Sara read. She jumped to her feet and ran into the house.
When you're gone the words I need to hear to always get me through the day
And make it okay
Sara flung open the door and ran into her husband's open arms.
I miss you
