Author's Note: Another story I wrote while I was away, just a really short one-shot. "Quickly learning to love again" comes from 'Better in Time' by Leona Lewis. Review!
"That really hurt me, you know, Rach!"
"Yeah? Well, me too!" Rachel cried and threw her shoe at Ross, who dodged it and yelled another response back at her.
Ross and Rachel were fighting. Again. They'd broken up recently (again), and kept arguing.
Rachel let out a frustrated groan and sat down on the edge of the coffee table in her apartment, putting her head in her hands. Ross's expression softened a little. He still had a soft spot for her.
"God, Ross, why can't we ever work things out?" she whined, more tears escaping and running down her already tear-stained face. Ross just shrugged his shoulders. "Why aren't you saying anything?!" She raised her voice again, all her feelings about the breakup coming out in a rush, overwhelming her. More tears spilled over. She wanted him to hold her and tell her it would be alright, even if it wouldn't.
Ross wanted more than anything to put his arms around her and rub her back and tell her everything was okay, even though it wasn't.
"Look, Rach, this wasn't just me you know!" he tossed back defensively. Rachel groaned again.
"Can't you just take some responsibility for once?" she shouted at him.
"Sure, some, but not all of it!" he yelled back. Rachel was ready to pull out her hair. This was all so frustrating!
"What is wrong with us? No one else has these problems! Maybe we just don't work!"
"Maybe you're right!" Ross yelled back without thinking. This tore the remainders of Rachel's heart and she stormed into her room, slammed the door, collapsed on the bed and started sobbing. Ross moved over to her door and stood with his hand hovering over the handle, but hesitated. She wouldn't want to see him right now. Still, he went in.
"What do you want?" She glared at him.
"Rachel, I'm sorry."
"Why can't we have a working relationship? God, I just want love!" She cried again, and Ross pulled her into his arms, stroking her hair. She didn't resist. Finally, they pulled apart and he looked into her tear-filled eyes. Before he knew it, her lips were on his.
Maybe their love wasn't perfect. They had a lot (A LOT) of ups and downs, but one thing they were good at was getting back together. Again.
Author's Note: Hope you liked it! Review.
