... You know, this started as a fluffy drabble.
Then it evolved into an extremely angsty prologue...
I do not own Young Justice.
It was amazing what little things could cause such strong emotions.
Like the pure joy just a small smile, a glance of soft raven hair, or a sparkle in crystal blue eyes could cause.
The feeling of flying that was felt when he laughed, giddiness resonating through the tones.
The passion that took over her being when his raven locks intertwined with her own red strands, their beings one.
The pride while seeing him take charge, leading those they cared about in the bravest of fashions.
The anger, the hatred, that consumed her very being when it was discovered that he was keeping secrets from them all... and from her.
The fear... The soul-consuming, heart-wrenching, suffocating fear while he lays bleeding in her arms...
The agony as she feels his body weakening in her grasp, his muscles giving out...
The desperation in stumbling gloved hands grasping at the open wound that was slowly starting to stain the bright blue bird on his chest with a sickening crimson shade, trying to stop the flow...
The sadness as tears stream down her face, her love dying right before her eyes...
Finally, the... brokenness when nothing works, all is lost, and he is just... gone.
Never to soar again, to laugh again, to smile again, to lead again, to... love again.
Never to love her again.
The end comes crushing realization that there was nothing she could do, that nothing would have stopped this.
However, there is a new beginning when she lifts her head, blue eyes sparkling with rage, and she decides that she wouldn't stand for this.
That the Light would live to regret ending her love's life. That she would gain her revenge... for him.
... Really, this was supposed to be fluffy... I'm not so good at sticking with fluffy...
