I was leaning over the edge of the well looking in. My friend Harley was standing a few feet back. She claimed that all wells were bad because of a movie she watched, what was it called… I think it was called 'the ring'. Anyway she wouldn't come near the well, like I said she was convinced it was evil or something. What I thought was almost the complete opposite though. I felt like this well was enchanting. Besides only old things were evil right? Well the pit was always here but the actual top of the well where you'd pull the bucket up was new.

"Hey, Harley. I think I found something," I said struggling to pull up the bucket of water, "Please help me,"

"I don't know about this Kara," reluctantly she came over to the other side of the well and helped me pull the bucket up. At the bottom of the bucket was something wrapped in a cloth? I plunged my hand into the freezing water. It felt like a dozen icy fingers were caressing my own. Then my hand wrapped around the object and I pulled it out unwrapping it. It was a…rock?

"Is that a key?" Harley asked. I looked at the delicate silver object hanging from a string tied around the cloth. Without thinking I untied it from the cloth and put it around my neck.

"Kara, I really don't like this,"

"Come on Harley, this will be an adventure!"

"Alright, fine,"

"Maybe we can find a better chain for it, this one looks like it's going to fall apart any minute,"

"I think my grandma might have some in the basement,"

"Let's go then,"

We ran to the little house. In the dusty basement we explored boxes and boxes and more boxes. A flash of red caught my eye, digging deeper into the box I dug out a doll…of me. The same red hair and freckles, green eyes, the doll was even wearing my favorite jeans and t-shirt and my lime green high tops. This was so creepy.

"Hey I think I found a jewelry box," Harley said from the other side of the basement. I grabbed the doll and shoved her in my pocket, only one black button eye peeking out.
