Year 1
She was one person ahead of him when they lined up for the Sorting ceremony. Maybe she had some issue with Kenneth Towler he didn't know about, but for whatever reason, it was his hand she squeezed as she squealed with excitement when her name was called.
Year 2
She was talking to Angelina Johnson instead of paying attention to where she was walking and spilled her potion all over the front of his shirt. Warrington saw her and could have swerved to avoid her, but he was bigger and figured she should be the one to move out of his way. Knowing he was right didn't lessen the pain of the potion burning his skin, but the detention Professor Snape gave Spinnet for her carelessness did.
Year 3
They passed each other in the hallway to the Quidditch locker rooms before the Gryffindor-Slytherin game. She was already dressed her in her uniform and carrying her broom. He was waiting around, hoping that Montague or Pucey suddenly fell ill so he could take their spot in the game. She smirked at him. Warrington paid Bole five sickles to guarantee Spinnet received one good bludger hit.
Year 4
He was minding his own business, studying in the library, when Spinnet stopped at his table to inform him that while she herself was a pureblood, she was firmly against anti-muggleborn prejudice. It was obvious that she was afraid the Heir of Slytherin might mistake her for a mudblood and petrify her. He assured her that he would let that fact be known in the Slytherin common room before laughing at her.
Year 5
He'd been a prefect for nearly a month before he got an opportunity to punish any of the Gryffindor Quidditch players. It wasn't his turn to patrol that night, but when he stumbled upon Spinnet snogging some Ravenclaw boy long past curfew, he had to take as many points as he dared from their Houses. Spinnet was furious. Warrington half hoped she'd try to slap him so he could take more points, but she only proclaimed that he was jealous and rubbed against him when she stormed by.
Year 6
His Yule Ball date was a pretty, graceful, ladylike girl from Beauxbatons. He didn't hear a word she said to him all evening because he stared over her head at the spectacle of Spinnet being spun around the dance floor by Lee Jordan. Spinnet and Jordan weren't making nearly as big a scene as Johnson and one of the Weasleys, but they held his attention nevertheless. Warrington blamed it on Spinnet's dress. It was red – his eyes couldn't help being drawn to it.
Year 7
The way she stared at him made him want to sink into the floor. He couldn't remind why he'd thought it was a good idea to offer her the chance to snog him instead of being reported to Professor Umbridge for what was a quite minor offense. He fingered the little silver "I" pinned to his uniform and tried to think of a way out of the situation other than simply sprinting away without another word. Pucey could have played it off as a joke, but Warrington had always been the serious type. He was relieved when Spinnet walked away without replying to him.
