Recently I've been rather obsessed with Chain of Memories. Sadly, all I can seem to write are drabbles. So... enjoy?
She had such dainty hands.
Which was why it amused him so much when she found his piano room.
Being a prisoner must have been quite boring (it was certainly boring watching her), so on occasion, Marluxia would pretend to fall asleep. Soon enough, the girl would slowly look up from her sketchbook, and then leave the room. It never worried the pink-haired man; to the contrary, he found it quite fun to watch her explore, to see where she wound up. Then, she would tire of walking and return to her room, where Marluxia would have assumed his sleeping position.
One day, however, while wandering through one of many white, empty hallways; black caught the corner of Namine's eye. She flinched, thinking it was the cloak of one of her captors. Then, upon a second glance, she discovered that the black object was inanimate. Curious, she approached it, still half-expecting it to jump at her. She cautiously ran a hand over it, to find it was cold, hard and smooth. Suddenly, a sound made her jump. While touching the strange object, she hit a spot on the front, where the surface was white. It moved beneath her finger, and a strange noise rang out. After recovering from the shock, she decided, though hesitantly, to touch it again. The same sound rang out again. It kind of reminded her of a raindrop. It was so… poignant.
A few minutes passed, and as she moved her hand to a different spot on the white surface, a different sound would occur. No, not different. More like… the same, but a different pitch. It confused her, but intrigued her all at once. She liked the sound.
"Curious."
Head jerking around, Namine's eyes widened as the Graceful Assassin approached her.
"I… I w-wasn't…" She stammered.
XI held up his hand to silence her. "I see you like my piano." His tone was kind of... odd. Like there was something hidden behind it.
"Piano…" The girl muttered, trying the word out.
"It's an instrument. Would you like to hear me play?" He smiled, licking his lips as he spoke. The blond nodded slowly, eyes wide with curiosity.
Pulling a bench out from under the piano, Marluxia sat and positioned his hands over the white surface. "These are called 'keys'." He informed her. She said nothing, and eagerly waited for him to begin.
Suddenly, a strange melody filled her ears. Marluxia's long fingers crawled across the piano's keys, his features cold and empty. The sound bounced off the walls of the room; bounced off the walls of Namine's mind. It seemed to echo on for eternity.
It was so beautiful… and so horrible.
Before she could even realize it, tears began to run down the girl's face. The melody filled her with agony and rage. She dropped to her knees, shaking, and covered her ears. It almost seemed like she was trying to tell him to stop, but all that surfaced was muffled whimpering.
With a devilish gleam in his eye, Marluxia finished his piece, stood, and promptly left.
It was a long time before Namine left her room again.
