AN: Inspired by the dancing scene that transpires between Harry and Hermione when he's trying to cheer her up after Ron leaves (movie version.) Was anyone disappointed with the fact that they made it a 2part film so they could get all the details right, and they still didn't manage to do so? (even if they did get more right in this film than any other?) Oh well...ENJOI!
Harry's POV
I sat down and looked at Hermione; she was listening to the radio that Ron left. The thing didn't bother me as much now that Ron wasn't constantly listening to the war coverage, actually I quite enjoyed the music that Hermione had been able to find.
After a few moments of just watching her, I stood up and offered her my hand to dance. She of course knew that I was never one to dance, and stared at me for a moment. Finally she accepted and we started to dance. At first it was just silly, and anything that I could think of that would make her forget for a minute and smile, but as the song ended we drew together and slow danced. When the song ended we pulled away and just stared at each other, and I knew this was the only chance I had. So I gathered all of my Gryffindor courage and leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
The kiss was short and sweet, but she didn't seem to be disgusted when I opened my eyes to look at her, in fact she looked relieved. "Oh Harry! I hoped one day that you would see me the same way." She said in a rushed breath before smiling shyly. "I flirted with Ron for years because I was hoping to make you jealous!" I smiled at this statement; sometimes I could be really oblivious.
"You know, if he comes back, we'll have to hide this from him until after the war. I think you might have made the boy fall for you for real Hermione." I said as I wrapped my arms around her and drew her back into me. I heard her inhale and sigh contentedly and my smile grew.
"Harry, I know I did. I didn't mean to, I was honestly just trying to make you jealous enough to realize that one of your best friends really is a girl. I never thought I stood a chance in getting your affection seeing as I'm not as hot as Ginny, or sexy as Cho." She whispered into my chest, I pulled back slightly and lifted her head so I could look in her eyes.
"Don't you ever say that Hermione. You may not have the "fake" look that Ginny and Cho have, but that's what I love about you! You don't need ten pounds of makeup on your face to be beautiful, you just are. I don't know what other guys go for, but honestly I don't care if you're hot or sexy, even though for the record I think you're both and more, but I love you for you, Hermione. You're beautiful, and funny, and caring, and loving, and you're always there for me when I need you, you are unwavingly loyal, you're the brightest witch of our generation and yet you have your moments where you can be completely stupid. I love the way when you're working on your arithmancy homework and you come across a tough question you nibble on your lower lip a little bit, or the way when you're thinking about home your eyes gloss up like you're going to cry, and in order to stop yourself you throw gum into the fireplace. I love you for you!" I said with the occasional soft kiss thrown in for emphasis. She stared at me and for a second I thought I'd messed up again, but then she grabbed me by the back of the neck and smashed our lips together for a mind blowing kiss and I knew I'd said something right for once.
"Oh Harry, I don't care if Ron ever comes back, right here, right now, in your arms is where I belong!" She said and to complete our cliché moment, she leaned up and kissed me again.
Unfortunately the fun had to end and the horcrux search began again. We had no idea what the future would bring, but we would face it together!
