Rings and Rain
Kate clamored up the wet steps that led to her and Castle's townhouse. She and Castle had brought it just after they got married, which was two months ago. She swears it's just one of those days where Mother Nature is like "Hey ya, I am just going to wait until you walk out of the building to rain." And that would be why she is soaked right now. As she entered the house she notices that it is completely silent expect for Castle's voice.
"Yes, you heard me right Kate Beckett. Badge number: 8145…"
"Rick" she called to him, crossing the landing. "What on earth are you doing?"
"Kate!" he screamed as he picked her up and spun her. "Where the heck have you been? I've been calling you for like the last hour. I though you were in an accident or got kidnapped or who knows what." He carried on, nearly choking her as he hugged her tight.
"Castle. You called the police of me. Really I am the police." She said firmly "I am perfectly fine. You don't need to worry about me." She walked over and hung her coat up as Castle just looked at her, a look of disbelief on his face.
"I don't need to worry really. I don't need to worry about the one person in this room who actually goes out and arrest dangerous people that honestly don't want to be." "You're always with me Castle." "That didn't help you from being shot now did it?"
"Castle." She growled He crossed a line and he knew it. He needed to get his point across but his plan just seemed to anger Kate more.
"I know." He said sighing "It's a touchy subject."
"You make it sound like I just had a bad talk with my boss. Do you really think it was that easy? Do you think it was easy to face everyone after that? I couldn't just walk away from it. Heck, I couldn't walk at all. If you don't want to worry maybe you shouldn't have married a cop."
"You know what maybe I shouldn't have." He yelled in frustration "Think of all the worrying I wouldn't have to do. I wouldn't have to worry about one day have a wife and not the next. I wouldn't even have to worry about me getting killed or having a gun to my head."
Kate couldn't take it anymore. So she did what she always did when she was scared. She ran. She could hear Castle calling after her. She could hear it in his voice that he knew he did wrong but she didn't want his apologies. She just wanted to be alone but, Castle had a different idea. He had finally caught up with her at her car. The rain coming down twice as hard as it already was.
"Kate!" He called
"Castle, just go away. I don't want to talk."
"Kate, I'm sorry I didn't mean what I said." He cried turning her to look at him. "I'm so sorry. He pleaded again.
"Castle you cant just tell me your sorry about saying you don't want to be married to me anymore and you regret doing it in the first place." She screamed at him
"Kate" He tried again. "Just go back to your great life Castle."
"Kate, look at me."
"What!" She screamed as she turned around not expecting to be caught in a kiss.
"Castle."
"Kate I said that life was great yes because it would be. But this life, the life that I have now is better than great Kate. It's amazing. You're amazing. I wouldn't trade this life for anything. I hope you know and will never doubt that." He said his voice filled with compassion. "Now may I please have that kiss you promised me this morning?" And with that the two kissed in the pouring rain as the full moon lit up the sky.
