"Phil."
"Director," Phillip Coulson greeted, as he took a proffered lounge chair in the Hotel Suite.
"How was New Mexico?"
"Interesting, sir."
Fury gave the man a subtle smile, then looked down at the files on his desk. "I'll get to your debrief later, but first I need to ask a favour... Off book."
Confused, the normally harmless-looking agent frowned slightly, and simply asked, "Sir?" Wondering if the favour, and his use of the term had anything to do with why the meeting was taking place in a hotel room instead of in a S.H.I.E.L.D. field office, one of which was located, not far away in Los Angeles.
Fury looked up, and as he picked up a file, he spoke, "After your visit to Stark, I need you to swing by these two locations on your way to Headquarters, you'll be picking up some packages from the first, and dropping it off at the second."
"Yes sir..."
His tone must have shown he was curious as to the details.
"It's something personal... which is why I'm asking you. You're my one good eye, Phil, one of the few I'd trust to do this." Fury sent him an amused look, telling Phil a lot.
Phil grinned at the affirmation, but he felt there was a little more to it... something small though, it didn't feel big.

He stared out at the first location.
It was a factory, yes, but it wasn't the sort he'd been expecting.
He looked down at the file... It was a list of items.
Getting out of his temporary transport, he entered the reception.
"Hey there, hun, What can I get ya?" A Texan receptionist asked.
"I'm here to pick up several packages..." Coulson spoke as he handed over a letter Fury had left in the files, and an envelope.

He smiled at the legend, as she calmly began to wrap the... items, and heard her muttering, "Oh, they'll love these... he's such a sweetheart."
"If that will be all?"
"Yes, thank you. Please give Nick my best Agent Coulson. "
He smiled back, even as he held in the start that she'd known his name... Fury had probably called ahead.
And he was confused, these seemed to be off-the-shelf items, so why he couldn't just have them delivered, he didn't know.
Authors Note: This is a short set in the "Midnight" series. Just a short to show one of several times Coulson had interactions or other connections with Skye, here acting as a delivery boy bringing her twin's presents from Nick. And the first reason is it's not just SHIELD'S books fury doesn't want it on - the items were bought for cash, with no name. second, the items aren't even released for sale yet. And this is sort of how Fury gets all the kids' presents. And if you still don't get why off book... he's made enemies, no reason to give them the hint that he has people he considers family, especially when they're already looking for them for other reasons.
