Say something
'It was doomed from the start'
She says this as if this 'it' wasn't an exaggeration, a false tag to something that wasn't even existent.
She is standing her ground one last time in false hope that he'd take her extended hand, in false hope he will return her plea.
'It isn't your fault' her mind echoes and loops it like a mantra
'It isn't your fault you couldn't reach through to him'
And she regrets that, her wasted love, her wasted time, her wasted efforts to make him notice her, appreciate her, appreciate himself.
Because she was already small, so small in his eyes.
"What do you want?" he harshly questioned
"Where do you stand?" she softly demanded
"I want to love you as much as you love me but I am sorry, I can't" he said apologetically
"I want to stay with you as much as you want me but I am sorry, I can't" she replied heartbroken
She has given him his chance, his time, his space in hope he'd learn to love her, in order to redeem himself, yet he never did.
And though everything around them is sick, the whole lot of people, the whole hell of a world, she can't resume in this sick relationship.
She can't always be a last resort, when his options run out.
She has already given up.
"They have beaten Gale up pretty bad" she heard the town's people gasping and murmuring.
And as she stirs her way through the blizzard with the Morphline, the wind echoes in her mind
"I want to love you as much as you love me but I am sorry, I can't"
And the snow hits her in the face, she will never get over him.
"The Mayor's house is debris by now" He heard the people screaming and shouting.
And as he makes his way through the crumbling town, the fire and bombs, the smoke chokes through his mind
"I want to stay with you as much as you want me ,but I am sorry, I can't"
And the ash hits him in the face, after all in a way, he has always loved her .
