Max stumbled her way across the cold empty streets of Jacksonville as she pulled her mask above her chin.

"No survivors here either..." she thought to herself.

It had been days since she last saw her little brother Charlie, who she was forced to leave behind when the plague broke out.

The people affected by it grew sharp abnormal crystals all over their bodies, as if they were becoming living abstract art.

Max shuddered at the thought of it.

People acting feral, resorting to violence as soon as they see anything breathing, it was just like how her dad described the war.

She didn't want to run into any more infected, but her bag

Was running low on food., So she had no choice but too sneak her way into a local shop.

As she crept inside the small building her shoes squeaked

And alarmed someone behind a shelf who dropped a can on their head.

" Ow! That hurt! " A young man's voice groaned.

Max lifted her brow in confusion and peeked around the corner to see a tall scientist with brown hair and blue eyes. " who are you? " she asked lifting up her trusty baseball bat.

He turned his head torwards her and smiled awkwardly.

" Oh! Uh, I'm Todd! Please don't mind me I'm just looking around..." he said in a thick Irish accent putting something behind his back.

" uh huh...and what's that behind your back?"

She asked skeptically poking at his arm.

" What? Something behind my back? Nooooo..."

His hand twitched as he nervously tilted his eyes to the ceiling. Max could tell he was obviously terrible at lying.

She quickly hit his stomach with her bat making him grab onto his shirt in pain and drop the strange hidden object behind him, which Max proudly held up.

It had a sphere like shape and held some sort of light colored goo inside with a label on the surface that spelled out " K4 ophiocordyceps "

" what's this?"she questioned examining it.

" Wait!Dont touch that! Its extremely dangerous!"he jumped, grabbing it from her hand.

She tilted her head and chuckled.

" What? It doesn't look dangerous to me."

" That's because you don't know the things it can DO!

You have no idea what kind of trouble I've gotten into for this!"

Max curiously leaned against the shelf and smirked.

" It looks like a bootleg snow globe."
