Scarecrow was concentrated on the fear gas formula on the desk before him.

"And now I heat this to…"

He paused as he heard the door behind him open. He turned around.

"Robin? How did you get in here?"

"Rather easily, actually. The guards weren't very tough. The real question is why you are working for-"

"No matter! I must teach you fear!"

The scarecrow threw a vial of fear gas at Robin.

"Now, do you see the glorious terror that is Scarecrow?"

Robin emerged from the cloud wearing a gas mask.

"Maybe I would, if you only had a brain."

"Insolent child!"

Scarecrow picked up his scythe and swung it at Robin, who blocked with his staff. Robin then hit Scarercrow in the head with the other end of the staff, knocking him out.

"What's the matter? Is your straw falling out?"

Dick grappled to a walkway up above, and dashed over to a door at one end. He reached out his hand to open it, but paused. He stood behind the door as he opened it, thereby avoiding the large mallet that slammed into where he would have been standing. He grabbed it and pulled it out of Harley Quinn's hands.

"Hey! You're not going to-"

Robin swatted her aside with his staff.

"Oof!"

"Joker!"

The Joker was seated in a chair near the corner of the room, next to Batman, who was encased up to his neck in cement.

"Well! It looks like mini-batsy came to join the party!"

The Joker got out of his chair and drew a comically large revolver from his coat with a wicked grin.

"Too bad for him."

He pointed the gun and pulled the trigger. Robin sidestepped in time to see that the revolver was another trick gun, launching nothing but a flag that said "Bang!" on it.

"Looks like the joke's on you."

"We'll see who gets the last laugh!"

The Joker drew a knife and ran at Robin, who knocked him over with a swipe of his staff. Joker tried to get up, but Robin made sure he stayed down with two more downward strikes. He picked up Harley's mallet and used it to break the cement around Batman.

"Thanks."

Batman picked up the Joker by the scruff of the neck and began dragging him outside.

"You're quite welcome, Batsy!" responded the Joker, who received a punch to the face as a response.

Batman tied up the Joker and dropped him off the catwalk, leaving him dangling upside down. He turned to Robin.

"We'll talk in the cave."

Bruce walked over to the Batcomputer.

"That was reckless, irresponsible, dangerous, unnecessary,"

Here it comes, thought Dick.

"And some of the best work you've ever done."

Dick wasn't sure whether to think of that as an insult or a compliment.

"Do I detect a sense of humor?"

"It's true, isn't it?"

That would be a "No," on the sense of humor, then.

"I guess so."

"You… You did well. You've learned a lot, Dick, both from me and for yourself."

"What, am I going somewhere?"

"If you want. I think you're ready to work in a setting where I'm not looking over your shoulder."

Dick put his staff down, thinking about what Bruce was saying.

"Shouldn't that be my decision?"

Bruce turned towards him.

"It should, and it is. I'm just asking you to make it."

Dick thought about it for what felt like hours but were probably mere seconds.

"Where would I go?"

"That's for you to decide, but Kid Flash and Aqualad are doing something in Hatton Corners. Maybe you could talk with them about it."

"Alright. I'll do that."

Dick walked up to Bruce and extended his hand.

"It's been – it is an honor."

They shook.
