Bellatrix/Andromeda, vaguely

When Bellatrix and Andromeda had been quite young, it had been easy for the two of them to slip away together unnoticed. Oh, Narcissa had cried and complained about being left behind, but they had never really been ordered to bring her with them wherever they went, or to stay at home instead of going out together on the moors, or any other thing that would have impinged upon their freedom.

It was only natural that while spending so much time alone, a pair of young girls might begin to experiment with each other.

That was what Andromeda called it – "experimenting". Bellatrix thought the term was irritatingly vague. She preferred to call it what it was. Kissing. Touching. And eventually…

When they got older, their time together became more and more limited. There was a seemingly never-ending series of parties that they were meant to attend, and then there was Bellatrix's wedding – that dismal affair – and it became near impossible for them to see each other after that.

But there were still days, days when Rodolphus was not at home and Bellatrix was able to avoid her other obligations, when she and Andromeda managed to sneak out and meet each other. They could spend all day together, far away from their manors, tangled in each others' arms and whispering things that they could never have said to anyone else.

But it always had to end, and Bellatrix would go home to Rodolphus with a heavy heart, because she knew it would be a long time before she could be with her sister again.

But there was a little spark of happiness in her – happiness that came from knowing that she had a secret that her husband would never know.

"What do you do with your sister all day long?" Rodolphus asked, and Bellatrix waved her hand vaguely and said, "Oh, nothing."
