Chapter One

Emma looked over to the clock on the bed side table and knew it was that time again. Before she had a chance to say anything the brunette leaned over, kissed her on the cheek and said the six words Emma hated to hear.

"It's time for you to go."

Emma looked at her, sat up and pulled her jeans on. "Well you got what you wanted, so I guess it is time for me to go" she snapped.

Emma climbed off the bed and Regina grabbed her wrist, she had a fire in her eyes that Emma had never seen before. Even though Emma was angry she couldn't help but think how hot Regina looked. Her desirable red lips that had an indelible mark just above made her irresistible to Emma and made her go weak at the knees, Emma tried to walk away but Regina held her wrist tighter.

"You don't get to speak to me like that and just walk away Miss Swan."

"Regina I get to speak you how I like, you call me over for a quick fumble then send me off. You might think I am a toy but believe me I'm not"

Regina looked at Emma and she looked rather hurt, she slumped her shoulders back and let go of her wrist. They had been doing this for nearly a year now and every time was the same. At about 8:30pm after Henry had gone to bed and she was sure he was asleep she would ring Emma to come over. Emma would arrive at Regina's about twenty minutes later, at 9:00pm they would be in bed fucking and by 1:00am Regina would be kicking her out. Even though Emma knew it was nothing more than sex, deep down she wished it was more.

"I don't think you're a toy Emma. We agreed when we started this that it would be on my terms, I can't let Henry find out."

Emma interrupted her, she hated it when she used Henry as an excuse.

"Find out what Regina, that your using his mother as a play thing. Just admit it I'm here just to satisfy your needs and once you're done with me you discard me like I'm nothing. I know it's my own fault I shouldn't keep coming back to you."

Emma knew that they couldn't let Henry find out because well he would think it was more than what it was. He would think that they were a couple and that he would finally have the perfect family he had always craved. Emma looked at Regina then looked away. She didn't know what was wrong with her, she had always been so confident but around Regina she felt like a child. Regina placed her hand on Emma's wrist and pulled her to sit on the bed. "Go on Emma, just say it" she sighed.

Emma picked up Regina's hand and kissed it. "I think maybe it's a good idea, if, we, stop this."

Regina stood up, walked over to her dressing room table and sat in front of it. Emma expected her to get angry and throw things like the last time she tried to break things off. But Regina just sat there and stared at the mirror. "Fine Emma, if that's what you really want then go" she replied.

Regina ran her hands through her hair and rubbed what little make up she had left off. Emma walked over to her and placed her hands on her shoulder. "You really mean it?" she asked.

Emma was in a state of shock, of course she didn't want to end this but she was just so confused. She had always been a bad ass, but since meeting Regina she had turned into one of them teenage girls in the movies, the ones that lie awake at night and wonder how someone feels about them. She didn't know how someone could be so complicated. There's times in front of Henry when she's such a bitch to her but Emma just assumed it's so he didn't think anything was different. Then other times Emma can feel Regina's eyes on her and it makes her ache all over. "Regina do you really mean it?" she asked again.

Regina stood up, walked over to the bedroom door and opened it "Yes Emma I really mean it, you're not a prisoner. I will not make you sleep with me, I'm not that type of woman. I want you to come here because you want to and not because I have forced you" she sighed.

Regina glanced at Emma and she could see her eyes had glassed over. Emma grabbed her jacket and walked towards the door. "I hope this won't affect my relationship with Henry?" she asked.

Regina pushed Emma against the wall and went to kiss her but instead settled for a kiss to the forehead.

"Emma, how could you think just because you no longer wish to sleep with me that I would keep OUR son from you. I really thought you knew me better than that. Keep Henry away from you would hurt him as well as you and I'm not prepared to hurt either of you."

Emma wasn't sure if she heard right, did Regina Mills just say she wasn't prepared to hurt her. The woman who did everything in her power to run Emma out of town has just told her she didn't want to hurt her. Emma smiled at Regina and made her way out of the mansion. She climbed into her car, before she could start the engine she started crying. Emma didn't expect any of this to affect her in the way it was, she was a lone wolf she didn't get attached.

Regina climbed into bed and tried to fall asleep but she just couldn't. She rolled over to the left side of the bed, Emma's perfume still lingered on the pillow. No matter how hard she tried to fall asleep she just couldn't, every time she closed her eyes she saw her face. She pictured her long blonde hair draped over the pillow whilst she was sleeping, her big green eyes that darkened when she was aroused and her full pink lips that she loved to kiss. Regina let this woman get under her skin, it was only meant to be a bit of fun here and there but it turned into twice a week, then she couldn't sleep unless Emma was led next to her.

By the time she had finished thinking about Emma and their situation the alarm clock started buzzing, letting her know that without any sleep her day was about to begin. She climbed out of bed and into the shower, she stood under the warm spray for a few minutes until she decided that if she didn't get out she would likely fall asleep. She grabbed her towel and made her way to her closet. She picked out a blue blouse with a low neckline, a black skirt with a very subtle slit up the side and her favourite black heels. After spending the whole night fighting with herself she decided she wanted Emma back, she didn't want to force Emma into anything so she decided to let her outfit do the talking.

Regina walked downstairs to find Henry already at the kitchen table, he was just about to pour himself some cereal. She grabbed the cereal out of his hand. "Mum, what are you doing I'm using that" he snapped.

Regina placed the cereal box on the table, kissed his forehead and grabbed her car keys. "How about we have breakfast at Granny's, we might see Emma and you can grab breakfast with her if you like" she replied.

The smile that broke out on Henry's face was huge, it broke Regina's heart to know he would rather spend time with the woman who abandoned him than with her. "Grab your school bag, maybe Emma will walk you to school."

They walked to the car, Henry climbed into the car, fastened himself in. He looked at Regina and raised his eyebrows and Regina knew he was about to ask her something.

"Mum, why are you being so nice?"

Regina started the car and looked at him "whatever do you mean dear?"

The drive to Granny's was quiet, just as they pulled up outside Granny's Emma was heading into Granny's with Mary-Margaret.

"Right Henry, Emma is with Miss Blanchard so if she doesn't want you joining her then…" before Regina could finish Henry had jumped out of the car and darted towards Emma. Regina walked into Granny's and gave Ruby their order. "Yes that's fine Madame Mayor. Would you like it brought to your table? she asked

Regina glanced over to the table where Emma was sitting. "No that's quite all right Ruby, I will have mine here and Henry will be eating with Miss Swan and Miss Blanchard if they don't mind" she replied.

Emma looked over to Regina and smiled. "Well yes that is perfectly fine Madame Mayor, but are you sure you don't want to join us?" she asked.

Before Regina could reply Emma took a big sip of her coffee and looked over to Regina making sure she could see her licking the foam off her lips. Regina knew what Emma was up to, she walked over to the table but on her way over she dropped her phone. "Madame Mayor, you seemed to have dropped something."

Regina walked backwards and bent over to pick her phone up, she knew this would get Emma's attention. When Regina stood back up and walked over to the table she could see the smirk on Emma's face. "Emma I just came over to ask would you mind walking Henry to school?"

Regina made sure she was leaning down just enough so Emma could see the corner of her lace bra.

"No that is fine."

Emma's face had gone all flushed and Regina noticed her breathing had become shallow, a clear sign that she was aroused.

Regina walked back toward the counter and drank her coffee. She watched her son and Emma interact, it was so obvious that despite not being in his life she clearly had the maternal instinct. She sat and observed them for another five minutes before she decided she needed to go to the toilet. Regina walked toward the restroom and went to the toilet, when she walked back out she could see a man talking to Emma, it was clear they were flirting. After watching them for a bit Regina started to feel sick, she stood up, walked over to the table and grabbed Henry's hand.

"Come on Henry, Emma is far too interested in this man to walk you to school so I will" she snapped. She pulled Henry out of Granny's not even giving him a chance to say goodbye to Emma. Henry let go of her arm and started to walk off from her. "Mum why aren't you letting Emma walk me to school and why did you drag me away from Granny's, I hadn't even finished my breakfast. You always say breakfast is the most important meal of the day."

Regina could see the hurt in his eyes and she knew it was selfish to drag Henry away from Emma after she promised she wouldn't use him to hurt her, but she couldn't just sit there and watch that man flirt with her.

"Henry, 1. Emma was clearly too busy to walk you to school and if we hadn't left now you would have been late, 2. I'm your mother so I CAN do what I like. And what was that man talking to Emma about?" she asked.

Henry climbed into the car, put on his seatbelt and pulled out his game thing Regina bought him when he lost his book. Regina knew he wasn't going to answer her so she decided it was time for some good old fashioned mother blackmail.

"Henry, if you answer me I will let you go over to Emma's for tea tonight, I have a council meeting and won't be home till late so maybe you could even stay the night" she said. It killed Regina to say it but she needed to know who that man was and why he was talking to HER woman. OK maybe Emma wasn't her woman just yet, but she will be.

Henry put the game down, undone his seatbelt and leaned over to hug her. She was in shock he has never been the one to start a hug he just normally stands there with his arms by his side waiting for it to be over. "You really mean it Mum, you won't change your mind" he asked jumping up and down with excitement.

"Put your seatbelt on darling, we got to get you to school and yes I really mean it so what did that man want with Emma" she asked. It was only a quick drive to Henry's school so he needed to hurry up and tell her before he got there.

Henry put his game back in his bag, brushed back his brown hair and smiled at her. "Well that man was just asking about everyone in town. He thought because Emma is the sheriff she would know everybody and when she said she knew everybody in town expect him he asked her on a date to get to know him more" Henry replied blissfully unaware, he had just stabbed her in the heart with his words.

Regina tried to hold back the tears, clearing her throat hoping Henry couldn't hear how upset she was. She patted him on the knee and smiled.

"So what did Emma say to this man darling?"

They pulled up outside the school, Henry opened the door and climbed out.

"I think she said yes, bye mum. Can you drop some clothes to Emma's for me?"

Regina couldn't believe she had said yes, it's not like it surprised her. Emma was single and very beautiful. Regina drove round the corner from the school, pulled the keys out, walked towards the forest and screamed. Regina knew she needed to stop this date from happening.
