A/N: Here's a little something just to show that I haven't forgotten about you guys. I'll have more to say in the future.

Another Day's Work
Hayate was no longer in the kitchen. It took the knights a considerable amount of work, but they managed to convince their master that she needed her rest more than anything and that she had no reason to worry. The three of them promised to wait for their leader in her stead.
Reluctantly she agreed, but Zafira went to sleep beside her bed to make sure she didn't get up again. The other two sat on the couch until their support, exhausted from preparing the next day's set of cartridges, was sent off to bed by the hammer knight. So Vita sat alone on the couch of the dimly lit living room, listening to the silence, anticipating that familiar click and the dull thud that follows.
And it came some time later, as the digital output at her side performed another ritual dance that arranged the shapes into a pattern of 2:00 am.
"You're still up." The first words in hours floated through the air from the direction of the entrance hall.
"You're very late." Vita replied.
The addressed woman slipped off her shoes unceremoniously and hung her coat on a hook she could barely find.
"I'm sorry."
The russet watched the woman sway a little on her way across the room and offered her a hand to help her collapse onto the couch where she fell length-wise, head resting in the girl's lap.
"No, you're exhausted."
"How is she?"
Vita bit her lip. She knew it would be like this at first. "She's... progressing."
"And us?"
"We're progressing too." She soothed the pinkette by combing fingers through her bangs. "Don't worry."
"All I know how to do is worry." She sighed.
"I know that."
"I should change."
Signum made to sit up, but Vita pushed her down flat on her back by the shoulders. "You should rest! I'm not letting you move from this spot tonight."
"But I...!"
She stopped when a pair of lips pressed against hers. They pressed insistently, yet the tongue that accompanied them asked politely for entrance. She allowed it, brought the muscle into her mouth, and snaked it with her own. It lingered long enough to play over all her teeth and slid slowly back again as she tried to hold it between her lips.
"Vita..."
"You never learn, Sig-chan. You're no good to Hayate-chan if you're dead. And I worry when you're out so late." She stroked the pinkette's cheek affectionately.
"I'm sorry." Her hand folded over the smaller one tenderly. "I didn't mean to make you worry."
"Are you hurt?"
"Nothing serious."
The russet's eyes ran up and down the swordsman's body, searching for any obvious wounds bleeding through her clothes. Nothing stood out on the fabric of her sweater or the leggings under her skirt, but their fearless leader was famous for downplaying her injuries.
"I should probably check to be sure Sig-chan isn't lying." The little russet said while her right hand began to slip under the woman's sweater.
Signum gasped a moment at the ticklish sensation on her stomach. "Weren't you saying I should sleep...?"
"Hmmm... I said you weren't moving from this spot."
And the hammer knight leaned over to give the swordsman a deep, slow kiss...
A/N: I plan to do more like this. It's nice to do a piece I don't feel tied to for long. Till next time.
