It's late Saturday afternoon. Aria's been at Ezra's apartment all day, still helping him sort through his files. She stayed over last night, but only because she had fallen asleep and looked so peaceful, Ezra didn't have the heart to wake her up. As much as he'd wanted to put her in her favorite shirt of his and move her to the bed to make her more comfortable, he left her in her clothes, laid her on the couch, and covered her up comfortably. He gently ran his hand through her hair and just sat on the coffee table, watching her sleep for a good twenty minutes. She looked like such an angel he couldn't help himself. When Ezra finally got ready for bed himself, his eyes barely left Aria, still sound asleep across the room. He laid his head down, facing the couch that held the woman he loved more than he knew what to do with, wishing that she was lying next to him right now like she had been just a few nights ago. He knew that they would eventually get back together, her actions lately have reaffirmed that, but it was going to happen on her terms. He'd never force her into anything.
They haven't talked about the fact that she stayed over. They just had some breakfast and picked up where they left off looking last night.
"Anything?"
"Nope." Aria answers, handing the folder over to Ezra. "This. Is. Exhausting." Aria sighs, putting her face in her hands.
"Hey. Come here." Ezra says, reaching his hand out toward her.
She goes over and sits next to him on the couch, he puts his arm around her and she instinctively lays her head on his chest and wraps her arms around him.
"We'll get there. Okay? We will." He says softly.
"Yeah."
Caught up in that familiar feeling, Aria lifts her head and reaches her hand up to touch his face. After a few seconds, she catches herself and jumps up to her feet, turning to sit back on the chair. Ezra stands up and pulls her back to face him.
"Aria." He says, looking her deep in her eyes.
"Ezra, I said-"
"Aria... I know what I felt the other night. And I swore I knew you felt it too. So look me in the eye, and tell me right now that you don't still love me, and that's not what the other night meant, and I'll let it go."
"Ezra..."
"Tell me, Aria."
Aria turns her head away. "I don't-"
"Aria. Look at me." He says, turning her head back to face him. "Look at me. Tell me the truth and don't lie to yourself."
"..." Aria sighs. "I love you. Of course I love you. I love you so much, but I'm scared."
He pulls her in and hugs her tight.
"You don't have to be scared. I love you. And I will always feel terrible about how things started between us. But I promise, I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you. If you'll let me."
"Ezra." She says, cupping his face.
They share another hungry kiss which quickly leads to another "slip," which is most definitely NOT a slip.
