Killua looked around the sunlit park, then down at his watch. It wouldn't be long now.
He turned his azure eyes to the nine-month-old in his arms, who looked back up at him, Killua's license sticking out of his mouth. "You ready to meet your uncles and aunt?"
Elodea removed the license from his mouth and gave a little squeak in response.
"I'll take that as a yes." He looked back ahead. "And good timing, 'cause here they come now."
Killua stood up and turned away from his approaching friends, pretending he hadn't seen them coming.
"Oi, Killua! Killua!" Gon called as he caught sight of his best friend.
Once he knew everyone was close enough, Killua turned around, a knowing smile on his face. "Surprise!"
The other four stopped in their tracks, looking completely dumbstruck.
Gon pointed to Elodea. "K-Killua, who's that?!"
"This is Elodea. He's from Kukan'yu."
Alluka covered her mouth with both hands, but it was obvious she was concealing a big smile. "Is he yours now?"
Killua shrugged. "Pretty much."
With that, Alluka let out a high-pitched squeal, being the first to run up to Killua. "He's so cute!"
Gon allowed a bright smile to creep onto his face as he let out a giddy laugh and went to stand next to Alluka.
Leorio cocked his head to the side, a smile tugging at his lips. "So, does that mean I'm an uncle now?"
Kurapika blinked. "I suppose that's one way to put it."
Killua carefully handed Elodea to Alluka, who could barely contain her excitement. "Ohh, he's even cuter up close! And his eyes are such a beautiful color!"
Gon leaned in to get a closer look, then looked back up at Killua, his honey-colored eyes glittering with anticipation. "My turn! Me next!"
Alluka laughed, handing Elodea over to Gon. "Here, you goofball."
"Killua," Kurapika began, tearing his gaze from the infant to look at the ex-assassin, "this surprise was pleasant and all, truly it is, but what exactly compelled you to take on this responsibility?"
"It'd take forever to explain how I came to know this little guy, but long story short, he really had nowhere else to go. It was either with me or possibly spending the rest of his childhood in that orphanage." Killua replied.
"I see.."
"Heh, Killua, I don't think you're getting this license back any time soon." Leorio said as Elodea went back to nibbling on the card. "And Kurapika, what's with this responsibility lecture? Killua knew what he was doing. You're acting like you have more experience because of that little one on the ship!"
Kurapika nodded, turning his gaze up to the orange sky. "Yes, I wonder how Oito and Woble are doing now.."
Leorio stepped closer, holding Elodea out to the blonde. "Do you wanna hold him?"
Kurapika hesitated, but slowly took the infant into his arms, looking into his amethyst eyes. "Hello." he said awkwardly, but it wasn't long before he was smiling too. "I guess… this makes me an uncle as well?"
Leorio blinked, then grinned. "I guess it does!"
